I didn't expect a Best Western to be so organised. They had just started renovating the entrance and breakfast area so had moved everything to another entrance. The workmen were polite and the staff went the extra mile to ensure we were not overly inconvenienced.

The best touch was when it snowed overnight and we looked outside to see that they had cleaned the windshields of every car in the car park.

Breakfast was fairly ordinary but again the service was great. No leftovers sitting on tables and a steady replenishment of empty buffet dishes.

The room must have been refurbised recently and it was a pleasure to have clean white grout.

We enjoy the location close to the market and have stayed here many times. Although undergoing renovations the hotel is still very functional and our room was clean, quiet and well equipped with a fridge and coffee maker. Coffee and tea was also available downstairs during the afternoon. Our room was on the second floor and away from the renovations but had obviously been refurbished with a beautiful new bathroom containg a shower. We hope to return later in December with our family who are visiting from Edmonton. While a little more expensive than other area establishments the convenience to the market makes it worthwhile and breakfast was substantial and included. I liked that the windows open as i have chemical sensitivities. They also use low odour cleaning materials which I appreciate.

This hotel is under extensive renos in order to become a Marriot. Travellers should be aware of this prior to booking, but sadly, nothing on their website indicates this. You may still choose to stay, but don't expect the normal experience. Scheduled to complete their renos some time in Jan 12.

My husband and I stayed here for the first time last week...we were looking forward to staying at this attractive hotel, right near St Jacob's, because of the location..Although more expensive that the hotel we usually stay , we found the room very noisy due to highway traffic and really the mattress was terrible...Apparently the air conditioning unit was on "power saving" which meant that it would only run a few minutes and shut down. this made the room uncomfortable temperature wise..(I was told from front desk when I checked out that the power saving could have been turned off manually from downstairs..I would have called down, but did not know that was an option...I also hated the tv remote which (may seem kind off minor) could only have the channel keyed in manually and would not scroll up and down..so frustrating with no channel guide in the room... The room was very attractive and I wished we had a better experience here...the front desk staff were friendly, and we did enjoy the morning breakfast. However, I do not think we will return..which is too bad as the location was perfect for our needs
