We booked this place for a couple of months before and then before we start our trip, I read about the bed bug problem with this place from the review and worried about it. Upon checking in, I inspected the beds and head board (well, I read every video online about how to find trace of bed bug before this trip), and the beds were clean. Bed, carpet, washroom are not like new, but reasonably clean. A/C is cold enough but the filter is dusty. A few drawers are bit dusty. TV cable signals are snowy but we don't watch much TV. Actually we just stayed there for sleeping, most of the time were away. WiFi is not fast, don't think about uploading pictures to Facebook. Some basic browsing is okay for planning our next day trip. For the price we pay, I'd say this is a good place to stay.

We were on our way to Nova Scotia from Michigan and after 13 hours driving, this was our halfway point over night. The room clearly had not been cleaned. Our sheets were visibly dirty. The bathroom light was broken. The tub was so dirty we decided we'd be cleaner not showering. The price we payed for this was unacceptable. Do not stay here!

We are members of Choice Privileges and have always stayed at either Econolodge or Quality Inn, never had problems until now. Our room contained a bed that was infested with bed bugs. Experienced bites that left blood-stained pillows.

They transferred us to another room in another building, unfortunately that room was much smaller with a crumb and hair filled fridge and shower and a very small up against the corner "sink" that kept over-flowing with water. No apologies from manager, just from the housekeeper. Manager refused to offer discount nor did she believe there were bed bugs despite our bites and blood-stained pillows and napkins which we squished the bugs in. Offered to show the pictures from the room and she still refused to believe, stating that supposedly "the other people" in our room who stayed "last week" did not say they had problems and that she would send someone to check the room.

After more complaining, manager relented to a less than 10 % discount due to us "already using AAA" (as if that excuses the bites). We then asked if anyone inspected the room yet-she did not answer; just huffily refunded us a part of the room price and thus after one horrible day we left for another hotel.

The outside of the hotel looks nice what with the lions and flowers, but the building with the white columns hides very very dirty secrets.

We still stay at Econlodge as this was our first, and hopefully only issue. Just disgusting.

We stayed at this hotel twice in August 2010, once on the way during our drive to the Maritimes and once on the way back. During our first stay, we were in Room 505, above the office. We liked this room. It was clean and contained a full-size fridge, toaster, toaster oven and microwave. Although it was near to the office and street, it was remarkably quiet.

On our way back, we were originally assigned to room 207 in the building at the back of the property. Upon entering, it seemed that the room had not been cleaned for some time. On further inspection, we found one of the two queen-sized beds was covered in dirt and small twigs, like someone had cleaned their boots on it. We requested and were moved to another room, 210, which was tired but relatively clean.

As you are in Quebec, at least half of the TV stations provided will be in French. As a result, the number of English selections is much more limited than one would be used to elsewhere.

The breakfast was a very basic continental breakfast. We found that, at certain times, the breakfast area was quite crowded with construction workers. If you can wait until they have left, you will likely have the room pretty much to yourself.

Overall, I hate to give this hotel a bad review as we were very satisfied with our first room. The location to Montreal freeways is very convenient and a nice Tim Hortons is only steps away. If you can get a room in the office building, I think that this hotel can be good value. However, if you find yourself in another building, please consider checking the room carefully before you unpack your bags.
