I am currently sitting in my room at the Quality Inn as I write this review. My dad and I are both Montrealers who currently live out of town and have trekked into the city for the holidays to spend it together and with family. My dad rented an executive suite for the night so there would be a bed for each of us and the room is really quite nice!
For two adults the room is actually quite spacious. There is a main area with a couch, a small chair, a coffee table and an LCD TV on a small dresser. There is also a tiny kitchenette with a small fridge, a microwave, coffee maker and a sink. The bathroom has the regular amenities. In place of a desk with chairs our suite has a double bed in the main area. There is a seperate bedroom behind french doors with a king size bed. The room connects to the bathroom through a private entrance and there is also a door into the bathroom from the main area. The TV has loads of channels to choose from as well as movies on demand if you want. The furniture is in good shape, the bed is comfortable and there are minimum eight pillows between the two beds.
The hotel has a nickel's downstairs but honestly, if you can walk or want to attempt transit or have a car, there are way better food options minutes away on Saint-John's and even on Sources Blvd and Saint-Charles. All these main arteries are max 3 km from the hotel and easy to get to since the hotel is right on the Transcanadian highway.
I guess the only downside is the hotel isn't really that close to the hotel. It's a good 10-15 minute drive depending on the traffic, and a cab will run you about 30 bucks. there is a shuttle but I don't know how it works as I was not going to/from the airport during my stay.
The lowdown: For a stay for someone on business or a family trip with a car this place is great. The rooms are spacious and really good price for what you get. the hotel is close to the three main boulevards of Pointe-Claire, Dollard-Des-Ormeaux and Kirkland where food choices abound. I would like to suggest someone from out of town, go to CHENOYS for SMOKED MEAT, it's north on Saint-John's 5 minutes from the hotel. It's not Schwartz's but it's still really good and you can't miss it!
Room Tip: Don't get a basic room. I heard the guy at the front desk say they suck. Get an executive suite...
