“Fantastic and charming in every way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

My daughter and I stayed at this wonderful B&B and were extremely happy with our experience. The rooms are spotless and very well appointed. The breakfast is outstanding, including hand picked dried wild mushrooms and wild salmon they had smoked themselves. When we told the host that my daughter was a vegan, he asked her what she liked to drink (almond milk) and then he immediately went to Calgary to get her the best imported kind which he gave her to take home when breakfast was over!!! And the knowledge of the area, especially when speaking about skiing and hiking, was astounding. It was a marvelous night and we wish we had stayed longer!

Room Tip: The rooms in the basement (higher than a true basement) have more privacy than the one off of the ki...

“A Fantastic B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

My husband and I stayed at the superb Stella Alpina for 2 nights in September 2011 - and wished we had booked for longer! Anneke and Carmelo warmly welcomed us to their beautiful home in Canmore and could not have been more helpful or kind. Their home is beautifully decorated; an alpine chalet with First Nation decor - most unusual and elegant! Breakfast was a delight - eaten each day around a table heaving with wonderful food, and the experience of Carmelo's home made, wild mushroom omelette with fresh herbs.. divine!
The house is situated in a quiet residential street, very close to local amenities and restaurants, but importantly very close to the beautiful Bow River; we saw 2 beavers on our first evening walk. Our room was extremely comfortable, and cosy and full of the nice, personal touches which are so often lacking elsewhere. We visited several sites recommended by our hosts, both keen walkers, who are enthusiastic ambassadors for their local area, and full of helpful advice. If you are thinking of booking elsewhere in Canmore - don't!! Stay at Stella Alpina, you will not be disappointed! We will most certainly be back one day to stay with this lovely couple!

Room Tip: We have seen all rooms, any would be great.

“Top of The Class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

I decided to go to Canmore again this year so I spent one week of my vacation with my father at Stella Alpina. I would qualify this place as being one of the best B&B I stayed in my vacations. Here are some considerations why to choose this place first before searching for other places:
1) The house is neat, nice and very well maintained. But beside this, it has a very original look as most of the furniture is home made by the hosts from wood with natural shape of branches nicely finished. It is the first time I saw such an inspiration and artistic but functional (!) kind of furniture. The house also has Native elements which makes the environment even more interesting and original. Another important thing to mention are the posters on the wall with Canadian plants and mushrooms seen in the mountains, also interesting to learn.
2) The hosts Anneke and Carmelo are extremely nice and very well documented about the Canmore geography, places to visit and they are excellent mushrooms experts! By the way, the breakfast prepared by them each morning was very tasteful and original! The mushrooms omlette is first class on the top of any breakfast I ever had! Also, the hosts know many languages to speak, you can be sure you will be understood and well received!
3) The house is in a nice and quiet residential street, no train noises in the night (like you can hear from other hotels from Canmore).

There are many other good things to say, which I am maybe missing here but what it is for sure is that you will have a relaxing and enjoyable stay at Stella Alpina which you will remember with great pleasure for a long time!

“Wonderful place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

Sorry we stayed only two nights. Canmore is a delightful little town just outside Banff National Park. Stella Alpina is a very comfortable adn well-appointed B&B, featuring delicious full-size breakfast,native-American decor in the bedroom, fresh herbs from the host's garden, and good tips on places to eat, sights to see, etc. Well located within walking distance (3 blocks) to town center and the walk/bike path along the scenic Bow RIver. We will stay here again the next time we are in Canmore. Carmelo and Anneke are excellent (friendly, informative, etc.) host and hostess.
