“Great hosts”

We felt very welcome and at home for our entire stay - 4 nights.
Upon our "unexpected" arrival Mallory very graciously dealt with my botched online reservation request.
We had the main floor suite. It's a huge beautiful space. We had 3 family members visiting regularly and when we didn't gather by the fireplace lobby we had lots of room by our own fireplace to visit.
The physical attributes of the inn are wonderful, and the attitudes of Mallory, Sara, and Thomas are just as pleasant. We felt like we were staying with friends and had the run of their house.
For an outdoor enthusiast staying in the Bow Valley their local knowledge can really add to your experience.
Where else can you have morning coffee with an ex-alpine racer and a back country lodge manager ( Sara's Dad) and discuss the day's weather and snow conditions? Perfect.
We have stayed at a dozen or more hotels in the area over the years. We agreed this was our most pleasant accommodation experience in the Valley.
The cost is more than reasonable considering the quality of the inn, the continental breakfast, the location, and the overall vibe.

“I didn't want to leave!”

Wonderfully appointed rooms, gorgeous setting, friendly staff and a great location, what more can you ask for? The Paintbox Lodge in Canmore, Alberta is a beautiful little mountain retreat located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Unfortunately my husband and I stayed there for only one night in late November while visiting our friends in Canmore, but I could have moved in permanently.

The Paintbox Lodge has an unassuming exterior, but the interior has recently been renovated. The renovations include a large, modern kitchen just off the main lobby, which will eventually house a cooking school (also a place where you can get fresh milk or cream for your coffee in the morning)! The atmosphere is cozy and warm with the works of local artists displayed on the walls. The rooms have all been beautifully, individually decorated - our room had two bedrooms and a little “living room” area, with a coffee maker and TV. The bathroom had a large bathtub with a separate shower, updated fixtures and big fluffy towels. The beds were so big and ultra comfortable - I had my best sleep in years!

The lodge is located within walking distance to main part of town which has numerous little shops and restaurants, and lots of hiking and biking trails close by for those that want to drag themselves out of those big comfy beds!.

Many thanks to owners Thomas Grandi and Sara Renner, and our good friends Harry and Claire for providing us with the opportunity to experience this little gem - we will definitely be back!

“Fabulous Romantic Weekend”

Our first stay in Canmore, and the Paintbox Lodge is the tops. Great lodge, great room, great location. Everything we needed for a romantic weekend all within walking distance. We really enjoyed the peace and quite the lodge provided, and the staff were great. We look forward to staying again, and seeing what the renovations will bring.

GF and I just returned from a week at the Paintbox Lodge in Canmore, our second visit. Fabulous small lodge, centrally located with all the right touches. I have become fussy about great beds and linens and theirs are first class. A few renovations about to be made will add to the reasons to stay here, as if they need any. Mallory is the gracious manager, with owners and former Olympians Thomas Grandi and Sara Renner constantly in and out. As to Canmore itself, it is every bit as good a base to explore the Rockies, without being over commercialized like Banff. Golf in the area is outstanding.

“Romantic Lodge in great location”

Stayed here for 2 nights during our recent trip to the CA Rockies. The lodge was absolutely beautiful. We arrived late after our day long trip from Jasper but there were instructions on the door and we easily got into our room thanks to Mallory. The room was spotless and huge! You're only a half a block from Main St. We had dinner at the Grizzly Paw based on Mallory's recommendation and were not disappointed. The next morning Mallory helped guide us to Alpine Helitours for our flight over the Spray Valley (great experience). I would not hesitate to book a room here again. The place is beautiful and the staff attentive.
