“don't plan on eating here”

Yes...the room price was OK relative to the options in nearby Banff, but there are some tradeoffs to consider. The buffet breakfast was one of the worst I've come across...dried out scrambled eggs, pallid cold pancakes, limp, almost soggy toast and seriously undercooked bacon...for 16 bucks! I ordered a bowl of oatmeal from the menu instead, and after half an hour of waiting, we had to go ....I never did get it. (they did not charge for the oatmeal or the one buffet for my wife)
The two waitresses were literally running trying to keep up with waiting tables and and running the till, but the kitchen was a huge bottleneck. The best thing I can say about this restaurant is that there's a McDondalds only about a mile west.

“reasonable option in Canmore”

Stayed this past weekend at this holiday inn. As others have said it is newly renovated and nice and clean. Booked a standard room which was a room with 2 queen beds. Ample room and nice decor. When passing by some of the rooms while they were being cleaned, the ones with the high ceilings and big windows were beautiful. Maybe we'll get one of them next time but for the small amount of time one is in the room, it's no big deal. Staff were very friendly. Didn't eat at the restaurant but the prices seemed not too bad. (10.00 for a plate of nachos). The only thing I would recommend is a hot tub in a better location. The one there was quite small and just off the restaurant. Plus one would have to walk right thru the lobby to get to it. Slightly awkward, so we didn't end up using it. For a couple days of skiing and for those that a pool and hot tub aren't a big deal, I would for sure recommend this hotel.

“Good stay in Canmore”

I recently stayed in a double queen room and slept well even though the heating system was difficult to control at a reasonable level. Beds and pillows were comfortable and bathroom was clean and well-stocked. TV and wi-fi worked fine and fridge was cold and ready to go for beverages. We also had a small coffeemaker and microwave. Check-in/out was smooth and the price was affordable. Overall I can say that we had a pleasant stay at the Holiday Inn and would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: The King suite on ground floor had a nice living room with a bar set up that would be much better if...

“A Gem in the Rockies”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

Canmore, Alberta is outside the park gates close to Banff. It is therefore a popular location to reduce hotel costs while visiting Banff. The town has a wide choice of accommodations from excellent to simply bad. On this trip I devoted some time in advance and settled on the new Holiday Inn. The room was a good size, very clean, quiet and comfortable. The hotel staff were very professional and helpful. I was especially impressed with the cafe staff who invited me to fill up a thermos with coffee for the day - no charge. A few days later I had reason to stay in Canmore again. I used the Holiday Inn but this time I asked for a handicapped room. It was cheaper, just a large as before and the extra equipment was impressive. The low level telephone by the toilet was a great safety feature. This hotel was good value for money and I will stay there again.

Room Tip: Make sure you know how to get to the hotel by road. It is easy to get messed up.

“Definitely Recommended”

MY husband and I booked this hotel via reward points and were more than pleased we had. As we drove into the hotel a large group of tourists were also checking in. The receptionist was obviously well prepared and had all the bookings and room keys organized, so it only took a few minutes for us to check in. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was large, clean and had a beautiful mountain view. The bathroom was also large and clean with plentiful towels and good lighting for make up. The bedding was comfortable with a choice of firm or soft pillows. To say there were a large number of guests it was very quiet. We did eat in the restaurant one evening. The menu selection was a bit limited and the food was just Ok. However the waiter was really pleasant and couldn't be more helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view room - spectacular scenery
