We stayed here at the very end of August 2008 at the start of our trip up through the Rockies and couldn't have started in a nicer place.
By the Brook is a great cosy little B&B with well appointed rooms and brilliant hosts in Paul & Corey. The location within Canmore is terrific, surprisingly enough by a brook and a short walk to the main town area.
Paul & Corey are terrific, along with their delicious breakfasts they have a great knowledge of the town and the surrounding area. Like many people we arrived straight from our flight from the UK and they were especially understanding that we may be awake at strange hours and made us feel right at home.
Their recommendations of places to eat were spot on, the Rocky Mountain flat bread company, the Grizzly Paw pub and Quarry were especially good. They even had good recommendations of what to do when we awoke on 31st August to a liberal covering of snow which put paid to our original plans!
Canmore itself is a terrific little town, in my opinion a much nice place than Banff but within easy driving distance of the national park. There are several nice lakes and walks around Canmore, but you can also easily get to Banff, Lake Minnewanka and Johnston Canyon.
