“Disappointing Upgrade”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012
2
people found this review helpful

We reserved a corner mountian view room. I selected the upgrade feature when I booked the room and we were upgraded to business for $5 more. Turns out that upgrade takes us out of the corner mountian view room and gives us $23 breakfast and $8 drink credit for the day...which just forces you to eat there. Never would I have thought an upgrade would take you out of the corner mtn view room, and the front desk girl just said sorry, and the policy is we'll make you happy or satisfied or you don't pay...not the case. Then the room service breakfast forgets my sausage and we were hungry and had to leave right away so we couldn't wait an hour to complain about it. Then the jam is rock hard, so how old was it. We left for the day and came back at 4:30 pm and our room was not cleaned. Room service showed up at 5 pm to clean and we were getting ready for supper at that point so we did not get the room service.

Room Tip: Don't take the upgrade.

“Hotel ok, but dont eat at Vics”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Basic room on 3rd floor. Nice white bed linens and duvet covers/shams. It was nice to see that so their is no 'question' in your mind as to what could be on the bed cover ;-) Room was near the beginning of the hall near the ice chest, so we could often hear the people in the halls talking (could be due to the huge gap in the door/frame). Nonetheless, the hotel was nice, room was very clean. We had breakfast at Vic's - I had read reviews in the past about the bacon 'dripping' in grease, with comments from the manager that they would work to correct this...so I figured by now that the issue would have been addressed - NOPE. It was a gross breakfast. Service was really not good - and I am not overly picky in that regard. It seemed there was no organization, everyone seemed all over the map and it was not overly busy to say the least. Seems very poorly managed. We waited several minutes before someone even came to seat us, then she had to 'set up' our table!? Once seated, we were initially going to order the buffet, but it didnt look appealing: greasy sausage, no bacon, liquid eggs, and warm yogurt. So we decided to order, which took forever to have them come over and notice we were not eating the buffet. The order took quite a while to come. I had ordered my eggs 'over medium' and they were barely 'over easy' (dripping with 'snot' aka runny egg white) gag. Finally after 15 mins our mail server asked how our meal was. This should be done within a couple mins of getting the meal. The bacon (Applewood) was literally 'dripping' on my plate as I held it up. We had a dry mini bran muffin on our plates, with not even a dollop of butter, nada, nothing. Toast was barely buttered, it appeared as tho it was given a quick brush of butter in the very middle, not even close to the crust (gag).
Great hotel, just dont eat at Vics - it will be a disappointment as clearly nothing has actually been done to address the past remarks.

Room Tip: Wish I had my camera in the Vics restaurant to show you....

Thank you for your feedback on the hotel and Vic’s. I was pleased to read you enjoyed the hotel however to say that I was disappointed to read of your comments regarding your restaurant experience is an understatement. I can assure you I will personally speak to each member of the culinary team to ensure this is no longer a concern. “Sleeping here was alot of work”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I have to tell you that we were not impressed especially for what we paid for.
We wanted a romantic weekend so as per their suggestion on the website I booked the king corner mountainview room. The view was great once you looked over the parked cars and the carwash accross the street. They put us on the ground floor facing the busy intersection and the noise from the trains going by was totally annoying.
The " numbers bed " actually collapsed on my side during our last nights stay when I got up to go to the washroom. I do believe they are on a metal frame which was not put together properly. We also took the breakfast special with the room and the resturant was the only thing we were happy with. They did a great job with the food we ate.

Did we tell them of the collasped bed? You bet. They gave me a 20% discount off of that nights stay.
The one other thing we noticed when we walked by the front desk was the over whelming odour of musty stagnent water coming from the hotel laundry facility. Smelling that as soon as you walk in to the hotel is not a good first impresstion.
I would not recommend this hotel.

Dear CalgaryBob:

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us. I am so sorry you did not enjoy the sleep number beds. I did want you to know that many Radisson’s carry an inventory of rooms that are non sleep number beds and they can be reserved at time of reservation. I am glad that you enjoyed your food experience. We hope that you will be back again someday.

“Quiet and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We stayed in one of the Falcon suites which was very nice, with a double shower and a jacuzzi bath, and a fireplace. Nice warm suite which turned out to be just as well, because the 2 days we were there were pretty cold -28C (-40C with wind chill). The staff were friendly, rooms well cleaned and the location not bad. It's a short walk into town.

They have free plugins to stop your car freezing, and although we didn't use it this time, the Vic's attached restaurant is not bad from previous experience. There is a pool and finess suite as well - which are included.

Great place to stay if you're skiing in Lake Louise or Sunshine, the town has great restaurants without all the loudness of Banff.

Room Tip: Falcon suite is only $59 extra and feels really luxurious. Hotel is usually quiet on weekdays - on w...

“Convenient and located well”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Stayed here for sleep mainly. was moving to British Columbia. Price was right, location was right but parking lot was under construction. I am generally happy with my stays at Radisson and once again I was. We had a ground floor patio suite where we could park directly outside. This was convenient because during our move the kids would request items from the car which was not far away. Rooms were average, I personally desire a much larger room but who wants to stay inside in Canmore/Banff? Its beautiful here and you won't regret getting a room at the Radisson. 1 night stay 4 person patio room.

Room Tip: Ground floor patio units are best if travelling with children.
