“Lack of Maintenance”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

person found this review helpful

Maid service could have made the front desk aware that the toilet was running continuously in our assigned room. Also, the refrigerator door would not shut. We contacted the front desk for maintenance and were later moved to another room. We soon discovered the sink stopper was inoperative and the door latch to the outside was almost completely separated from the door casing.

Also, the second night the maid left no soap and one washcloth for my husband and I to share.

“Better than the usual Holiday Inn experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

We were pleasantly surprised when we stayed at this hotel recently. Beth at the front desk was efficient and helpful, making sure we were acquainted with all the amenities. There is no elevator in the 2-storey building, but we were immediately offered help with our luggage. The room was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. There was a flatscreen TV and the channels were listed on a sheet beside the TV. Saves time rather than having to channel surf just to find the guide! As we were on a road trip, we made use of the guest laundry and the dryer actually dried the clothes without needing to be fed more coins.

Past experiences with this hotel chain have been mediocre at best, but this one is very well-managed and definitely earned a better score. The only minor dislike was the bathroom which is too small, and there is nowhere to put any toiletries.

We will stay at this location if we are in the area again.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room facing the back, the railroad tracks are quite close and...

“The Best Place to Eat in Hinton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

I have been going to the Holiday Inn "Green Tea" restaurant for over 2 years and have never had a bad meal and never had bad service. When we spend the weekend in Edmonton, we head home and drive all the way to Hinton to eat.The same girl seems to have been serving us for all this time, her name is Shella and she always makes us feel so welcome. I won't eat anywhere else in Hinton. They go out of their way to accomodate their customers.

First of all thank you so much for the great review. I have passed along your comments to our food and beverage staff and I know this will simply make their day. Also, I do agree that Shella is a wonderful staff member and it is nice to be reminded.

“They forgot to rebuild the rooms in the Inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

The rooms are tarted up but they need to be rebuilt. The new pool and hot tub area is the best. Without that it would be a sorry time of it. The hot tub needs to be hot though. I am sure they can rectify that easily enough. The hanging flags to decorate the pool area is a nice touch. The coconut-lime shampoos are nice but our room was missing soap. But alas, the rooms need to be rebuilt. It has a dingy feel to it. I heard a person at the front desk was being moved because a counter had fallen and we also had to move rooms because a curtain fell. Then the toilet was running when we arrived but we were able to subdue it! The pictures above the beds help brighten the otherwise dumpy feel to the place. Particularly the basement floor is kind of claustraphobic with low ceilings. The bathroom set-up with the tub & toilet separate is tiny and uncomfortable. The bathroom counter is too low. Adding the microwave & fridge is great. I had a good sleep though. The bed was comfortable enough. The staff are caring and did go out of their way to help out, particularly sending someone to help us move. It is not the fault of the staff though that the Inn is in need! Maybe a more budget price would soften the falling apart feel and the inconveniences of the uncomfortableness would not be so bothersome!

Room Tip: Take an upper floor if you can. It will not feel as dumpy. The back of the building too is best.

I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed our great staff and swimming pool, and sorry to hear your opinion of our guest rooms. I agree that the building is not new but an extensive renovation has taken place within the last 2 years and to most customers they are very pleased with the outcome. I hope you will continue to use Holiday Inn as your future lodging choice as most hotels are now new.

“Excellent Place - highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

The place is very nice and newly renovated. The rooms are very clean with comfortable beds, nice clean washrooms and excellent service. The hotel management was very helpful and took great care of the guests. The indoor swimming pool was such a great facility, my kids and friends enjoyed the bath. We would highly recommend this place to everyone. Very good value for your money. If you are planning to visit the Rockies, then this is a very great convenient place with reasonable rent and manageable distance from all the sightseeing.
