“Nice large hotel”

Very nice modern clean decor. Beautiful layout. They accept pets which is nice. They could learn from our US neighbors though about pet hospitality and not charge a small ransom for them. Don't bother asking about the Hilton Honours upgrade you applied for; my request was completely disregarded. I normally travel by myself for work. When I travel with my family I sure do appreciate the extra touches. There was none of that here.

“The bed is so comfy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

Staying at this suites for 15 days or more would give you a good discount off the original price. The full breakfast is one of the best in the area though the food variety is basically the same everyday. The breakfast is buffet style but you are served by people and gratuity is excluded even if the breakfast voucher is presented at the counter at no additional cost to your room rate. The bed is so comfy that you might prefer slam shut the timer and oversleep from time. Location-wise, it is convenient and close to highway 7. On the downside, the remote control is not properly functioned no matter how accurate you pointed at the TV. Wi-fi available at room has to be charged separately and free wi-fi can only be accessed at the lobby. There are only 1 washing machine and 1 dryer in the building on the fifth floor which is inadequate in number if you have somebody ahead of you in line. Overall speaking, it was a good stay at this suites for mid-to-long term

“Impersonal feel .....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

I recently stayed here for 5 nights on business.

Check in was smooth and easy if the staff were a little impersonal and "to the point", I didn't feel very welcomed as I walked to my room.

I had a corner suite on the 10th floor, my first impressions were tainted by a door frame that had seen better days, it was in much need of decoration as was the door itself. The room on entering was freezing cold, the AC had been left turned up which again was not very welcoming as I had to sit with my coat on for a good 45 minutes before it was warm enough to remove it.

The suite was reasonably well appointed but there was too much furniture in it, silly things like occasional tables that were placed where one would walk through, some more thought was needed as to the layout of this suite.

Once the room(s) had warmed up though I soon got used to the layout and began to feel more comfortable.

I was very disappointed by the lack of an executive club here, there are signs for one on the 10th floor but is has been closed down for some reason.

The staff in the bar, Troy, Angela and a lovely Slovakian lady were great, very warm and happy to chat when they had time, the bar was clean and tidy and the food reasonable too.

I think that as the hotel is part of a conference centre and spa which dominate the site dictates the attitude of the staff, this is more of a delegate hotel than a "warm and friendly" one, I certainly got the impression that I was a number not a guest.

Breakfast was a farce. On checking in I was handed 5 vouchers, one for each morning of my stay to hand in to the breakfast servers. I did not like this approach it made me feel as though I was on free school dinners! maybe this can be looked into and somehow link the guests having breakfast included into a computer to stop this ridiculous farce. As a result I only took breakfast twice during my stay as this unsettled me. I did speak to the reception staff about it but was given very short shrift - "thats how we do it here" - well it's certainly not what I am used to, especially from the Hilton brand!

Next time I am in Canada (Toronto) I will be using the Hilton downtown again (see my review) it was much better than this one at Markham.

In summary, great for conferences and their delegates but not for single business travellers and certainly not for families.

“Spacious, comfortable and classy”

The room was faboulous with a living room and a fairly large separate bedroom with a king sized bed. Excellent value for the price...Absolutely loved the Crabtree and Evelyn products provided. The overall look of the hotel was classy and stylish. Enjoyed the stay very much and would return in a heartbeat!
