My wife and I spent 5 days at ThistleDown and had a wonderful time. The house and gardens are elegant and peaceful; the breakfasts were amazing (and filling enough to skip lunch!) The location is good, too, only 10 minutes to downtown. But the best thing about ThistleDown is the hosts. Rex and Liz (Ruth was away the week we were there) were so friendly and knowledgeable. They are the kind of people who you know for a day and you feel like old friends; you'd be hard pressed to find hosts that would make you feel more at home. And they are happy to advise on the best places to eat and things to see. I don't usually stay at the same place twice, as new experiences are part of traveling, but if I'm ever in Vancouver again I will make an exception for ThistleDown.

Thistledown House got everything right. Its definitely more of a classy/modern establishment versus some B&B's where you get more of a country decor/ambiance. My husband & I spent two evenings at Thistledown in the Under the Apple Tree room. Love the fireplace & sofa! Perfect! The room and amenities were beautiful with all the little touches covered. The thing that makes Thistledown House stand out was Liz the Innkeeper. She was sweet, informative, a fantastic cook, attentive, & worldy all without seeming pretenious. She never missed a beat and made you feel right at home. The food was amazing and creative. We wouldn't think twice about staying here again if opportunity presents itself.

We stayed in September for 2 nights at the ThisleDown House. We received a warm welcome and a lot of great tips on what to do and where to go for dinner. The room we stayed in was big and very cosy. Everything in this Victorian house has style including the owners. We felt very comfortable from the first moment and wished we could have stayed longer. The breakfast is something else...a very tasty 3 course meal beautifully decorated...just amazing. The food is just out of this world...Everything was just perfect. There's no question. Next time we are in Vancouver that's where we are going to stay again. We've never been to a better B&B before (and are travelling a lot).

There is not much more I can say that has not been said about ThistleDown House. It is simply one of the best places my wife and I have ever stayed at in all our travels. We stayed for 5 days and honestly we could not fault them in any way. Rex, Ruth and Liz were outstanding hosts and treated us extremely well. We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and nothing was too much trouble. Each of them has an extensive knowledge of Vancouver and the activities and goings on as well as recommendations on where to eat, catch the bus, catch the sea bus and so on. The breakfasts were sumptuous and extremely tasteful. They were really well presented and we felt like we were had our own private French Chef. We stayed for 5 days and the breakfast menu was different every day...astounding! We had a really great room too, it was big, comfortable and warm, with its own veranda and fireplace...we loved it.

There is a wonderful library at ThistleDown with so many books to read about Vancouver, you would not get through them in a year! Rex will regale you with his stories of old Vancouver and some amazing historical anecdotes. Ruth will give you great insights into Vancouver's architecture and history and Liz will prepare the most amazing breakfasts and then help you to sort out all your activities for the day and guide you on the logistics and travel arrangements. They are a great team and really lovely people too, we arrived as guests, but after 5 days, left as friends...we will see them all again, soon I hope!
