Thankfully I only had to spend one night. I have stayed before and I knew what to expect but I was stuck pretty late at the airport and there weren't many available rooms - I got the last room at the Sandman. Sandman hotels are pretty filthy anyway - doesn't matter where you go. It is a corporately owned hotel chain that desperately needs attention to cleaning. It wouldn't matter that everything they put into their rooms, from the permanent fixtures to the furnishings, is cheap and dated if they made up for it in cleanliness, but they don't. It looks like they housekeepers did the reno with countertops/cabinets/carpet from a garage sale and the furnishings came from the hotel down the street waiting for demolition. There was food splattered up the back of my kitchenette wall, tub was filthy and smelled like urine, carpets were old and freyed, and the housekeepers don't clean door handles/switch plates, thermostats, and the telephone receiver - all were dirty and had some kind of food/snot/lipstick whatever. I carefully folded back the blankets, slept in full uniform under just the top sheet for a couple of hours, and waited till I got home to scrub off like Silkworm. The only thing this hotel has got going for it is the front desk staff and I can't even say Moxie's is a plus, but it's better than ABC.
