“Great views - good park access”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We visited Banff Gate on a week's timeshare selloff - and were happy with the experience. Views from the large windows are beautiful. Resort is on a mountainside a few miles outside of the Banff Park gates. Units are stand alone and very quiet. Rooms are large - basics were clean, except for dirty glasses someone had put back in the cupboard. The deck is huge and would be a great place to spend summer afternoons and evenings. The second day, the furnace had quit over night; maintenance was there immediately and had it fixed. Staff were very friendly.
Internet in the unit was very sporadic. Main lodge connection was much better.
The inside of the unit is completely finished in cedar, sometimes seeming rather dark. Lighting could be somewhat better. Not a plush resort by any means, but the rustic aspect fits the surroundings - and the views are superb.
Pool and hot tub look refurbished - bright and clean.
Plan to come back to this resort in the summer.

“Not the best and not the worst”

There were things that could have been better but I did bring them to the attention of the management by filling out the review card. I will say this much: It is odd to ask guests to strip the bedding because it isn't a pleasant site to see the stains etc. that exist under all lodging bedding.

be sure to pack:
Spices
extra towels
dish cloths (they give you one for the week)
cleaning supplies (you get dish soap only)
coffee filters and coffee (you have to purchase additional and they give enough for one or two days)
a sharp knife

The resort is a good value and although I have stayed in better places, it wasn't horrible.

I also find it odd that there are no pet friendly cabins. When I stay in Jasper I pay the extra fee to bring my dog.

No CO detector, no Internet, no covers on duvets, no level floors, square door frames, brown crusty stuff on the pillowcases, buckling structural walls in the bathrooms and vaulted living room, and no help or resolution from the front desk.

“nice stay loved the views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Great family friendly location. Beautiful serene views of the mountains and away from the busy crowds of Banff and Canmore. Nice chalet that comfortably sleeps around 6. Lots of space and baby friendly. Excellent choice for the area and enjoyed being able to have unlimited privacy. Pool was nice and rooms were fairly clean, nice jet tubs for a soak. Ask for the national park passes to save $20 each time you visit Banff and area.

Room Tip: chalets are very similar I was near the laundry which was good.

“"Beautiful" View, Great Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

Chalet was very clean and comfortable. We were on the last row and the view was fabulous.
After being outside which was a little chilly, it was nice to have the fireplace. Kitchen included microwave, coffee maker, blender and plenty of dishes/cutlery. Was nice to cook and have most meals in the chalet. Dishwasher also a plus. We did not utilize the pool/excercise room but they looked good. Was nice to hike right behind chalet as there were trails up the mountain.
Short drive to Canmore {groceries and restaurants} a little further drive to Banff. Laundry facilities were available. Kids enjoyed the games room, and if you needed internet it was available in the main lodge. Lastly the staff were great and very helpful when we asked questions and needed help.Would definitely stay here again.
