Good facilities e.g washing machine, tumble dryer etc big beds with electric blankets, spacious but rather dull and sparse. The problem was with fleas in the carpet, lots and lots of fleas, jumping on our feet as soon as we walked on the carpet.

The Comfort Inn Newton Road is a basic, affordable option not too far from downtown Auckland. It's right off the motorway and walking distance to a few restaurants, convenience stores, and pubs on Symonds Street. It's a solid 15-20 minute walk up and down hills to reach the central business district, though, so if you're not into walking you should take a cab or catch a bus (50c) on Symonds Street.

The furnishings are quite dated and there was not artwork on the walls, but the property was clean and serviced daily. We had a 2br apartment (very big compared to a standard room) for NZ$145. The front desk closes at 7pm nightly, so you must let them know if you will be arriving later. After that time, the front door is locked and you will need to get a code to unlock it from the front desk.

All in all, I would stay there again if on a budget.

I recently spent a week at this hotel. The facilities were of high standard and the staff helpful and friendly. The suite was clean, modern, comfortable, and spacious. The two-bedroom apartment also provided splendid views of Auckland’s skyline including the harbour bridge.

There are a number of cafes close by and superettes where you can purchase provisions for your stay. K road is about five minutes walk where you can connect with the link bus for transport to the CBD or other city locations. I would suggest travellers seeking centrally located, good quality and affordable accommodation in Auckland consider 121 Newton Road.

This was dirty, really dirty. We stayed here with our children and when we first entered the room we thought that perhaps it hadn't been serviced. I called the manager and asked him to have the room vacuumed as it appeared not to have been done. I eventually had to go down to the reception and fetch him and a vacuum cleaner before I let the babies onto the carpet. Even after he had rubbed the machine perfunctorily over the floor it still was dirty! The kitchen was grubby and the piles of crumbs down the gaps in between the fridge and the cupboard suggested that they hadn't given the place a good scrub in a LONG time. There were hairs in the sink, fingerprints on every shiny surface and the beds were saggy and felt damp. The furnishings were worn, grubby and uncomfortable. Location-wise, it was too far out from the CBD to walk comfortably and there is nowhere in the vicinity to have a bite to eat and nothing to do.

Couldn't get out of there fast enough.
