“Stunning”

This trip was a birthday surprise. We stayed for one night, dinner and breakfast included. Coming down the driveway the house looks beautiful, staff were very welcoming. We were shown to our room 'keepsake'. Beautiful room, high ceilings and amazing sense of space and luxury. Our room had incredible roll top bath which was massive and very impressive. The bed was extremely comfortable, I slept very well.

Dinner was fantastic. The menu had a lavish selection of different ingredients, each dish full of favour and presented to a very high standard. Breakfast was amazing continental selections as well as the options of full English again served very well.

I would recommend this place as it is definitely a place to go enjoy the surroundings and relax.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a positive review. I am glad we were able to make your Birthday surprise so special. Keepsake is a lovely room and the bath is perfect for a relaxing break.

Our Chefs are always grateful for feedback about their food especially when they know you have enjoyed every last morsel. The home-made Granola is always a favourite on the breakfast buffet.
I certainly hope we can welcome you back to Newick Park before your next birthday.

Kind Regards
Andrew

“Serenely Beautiful location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We spent two nights at Newick Park, and the experience was wonderful. We were lucky with the weather and could look out from our room across uninterruupted vistas of parkland and wild fowl skimming around the lake. Our room was comfortable and tastefully furnished, and the bed was luxuriously warm and inviting. However, the lighting though romantic and incidental made reading after nightfall difficult.
There are several spacious reception rooms, all of which had log fires and welcoming sofas. The dining room is extremely beautiful, with tables set well apart so that you feel you are in your own little world. The food although enjoyable on the whole, was not quite up to the
setting. Continental breakfast particularly was lacklustre, with an additional charge for smoked salmon and scrambled egg, which at this level of hotel seemed petty.
The fact that Newick Park is privately owned is a great bonus - it still feels more like a splendid house than a hotel.

Room Tip: 'Her Ladyship's room' has the most beautiful views and is large, comfortable, and worth...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review and valuable feedback. Her Ladyships is one of our top rooms and I am glad you enjoyed the view over the lake. We often have large gaggles of Egyptian Geese making good use of the lake. I am sorry the lighting was not conducive to reading in the evening. Unfortunately low energy bulbs do not always give the best light but we are looking at purchasing reading lamps for all our rooms.

I am sorry to hear that you felt the food missed the mark on this occasion. We take immense pride in our food and we get many ingredients from the estate and walled garden throughout the year. I certainly hope you will give the kitchen team a chance to redeem themselves on your next visit.

The Smoked Salmon charge on the breakfast menu is there to cover the cost of a premium product. We get our Smoked Salmon from Weald Smokery which is situated on the Kent – East Sussex Border. We feel it is the best Smoked Salmon available but due to the increases in food prices we are forced to charge a supplement. I can honestly say it is worth every penny and it is a generous portion too.

We are extremely conscious of ensuring Newick Park remains a country house while operating as a hotel and it is great to hear you felt we were getting this right.

I certainly look forward to welcoming you back to Newick Park in the near future.

Kind Regards,
Andrew

“A very special place”

We went for lunch with friends the day before Christmas Eve. I guess we are all a bit "picky" although discerning would be another description. The hotel was very quiet. The lull before the storm.
It was just perfect. There is something different about Newick Park that sets it apart from many of the other Country House Hotels I have been lucky enough to visit but I am not sure what it is. I think maybe it's a number of things. For a start it never feels "stuffy". The staff are always friendly and professional. The rooms are a great size; well decorated; and you even feel that if you won the lottery (which would be difficult for me as I don't play it) you would like to live there.
I work as a furniture restorer and they have some great antique furniture to admire. A really wonderful 18th Century walnut chest on a later stand sits very close to a truly awful mahogany table as plain as you could imagine which somehow has been damaged to the inside of the legs which takes some doing. It stands out like a sore thumb but it would look good in an outbuilding!!
So on to the food - it was just brilliant. We are vegetarian and it was delicious.
We used to go to Ockendon Manor for special occasions but after a miserable birthday experience have kicked it into touch in favour of Newick Park.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We pride ourselves on our attentive friendly service. We do have a fantastic collection of antiques which can be found in the main hall and throughout the 16 bedrooms.

Our kitchen team will always do their best to cater for any dietary requirements and we do try and have original delicious vegetarian dishes on our menus throughout the year. Our Head Chef always uses the best local produce which clearly is being appreciated in the dining room.

I look forward to welcoming you back to Newick Park for another brilliant meal in the near future.

Kind Regards,
Andrew

“The perfect wedding location, very personal touch.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

Like some of the other reviews we knew as soon as we drove down the drive and Once we walked through the door there was no other location for us. It has a very personal feel and the staff were all excellent. Before we confirmed our booking we went for dinner and the restaurant is lovely, definitely worth the trip. Old-fashioned service but with modern food.

We wanted a few special items for our wedding meal and nothing was too much trouble for Emma, Betty and the team. Gluten free, lactose free and vegan were all catered for with ease.

We picked Easter Sunday 2011 as our date and the hotel provided recommended suppliers for flowers, which were breathtaking, and child activities, which were well organised and kept everyone happy!

The location has many lovely spots for photos, especially if you are lucky enough to have bluebells and wisteria out at the same time like we were.

Many guests commented on the quality of the food and the service. We brought our own champagne which was not a problem, although obviously corkage applies.

The rooms are all different, all lovely. Our only slight gripe is that some of the rooms have slightly faded glory. Not everyone might notice but I do organise events in my job so I am picky.

Overall, this is a great venue for romantic getaways and weddings. I would definitely recommend it.

They also do a great afternoon tea if you can get in, book ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

Room Tip: They are all good.

Booked last minute for this stay, mid-week for work. I ended up staying a second night because a meeting ran over, and was delighted to be able to do so. Friendly and efficient staff; clean room, comfortable bed; excellent food, including a fantastic breakfast. Good bar and lounge area too. Highly recommended.
