Well what can I say - at least Groupon gave us a full refund.
Obviously, booked this through Groupon, it sounded great and something different. Then, once we had paid Groupon and received the voucher, we tried to book a stay ...
Virtually impossible to book a weekend stay - probably shouldn't have informed them it was a Groupon deal. Eventually we agreed a date for a Friday night, coincided with my birthday.
2 days before travelling - they cancelled, due to building work and storm damage. Well, trying to rebook was near impossible.
Eventually, we agreed on a Valentines trip, except they wouldn't let me book for Valentines day (even though I offered to pay any extra charges and upgrade). So I booked for the day before Valentines day - at least we could spend Valentines day in York before coming home. So, I booked some activities and afternoon tea in York - great.
8.00am on the morning that we were traveling - room cancelled again! This time, flood damage? Really? Reading one of the other reviews on here posted today - I'm beginning to think that the "whole hotel" hasn't been closed down as we were informed.
So we had to cancel the entire trip and activities. What a disaster. Groupon were very sympathetic and refunded the voucher.
Good news, we went to Denby Dale instead and stayed at a Hotel called Bagden Hall. Fantastic place - great food, drink and brilliant staff.
