We where finding it hard to get a 1 night stay in York, then we came across the Beechwood Hotel in Clifton. Arrived early; however reception let us leave our luggage in the room even though it wasn't ready, we left our car in the Hotel car park and went off to enjoy our weekend. We stayed 1 night and it really enjoyed it. The room had a double and single bed, TV, Kettle for tea and coffee, hairdryer, iron, the bathroom was sparkling clean. It took 15 mins to walk to the Minster. We had a nice pace walking into York, then on the way back to the Hotel we called into several pubs. The breakfast was probably the best we've ever had, we had the Full Monty English Breakfast and you couldn't fault it. Bacon, Sausage (nice sausages), Egg, Beans, Black Pudding, Fried Bread, Mushrooms, Tomato's, and Toast. You could also have Cereal and Continental Breakfast. Eggs in any way you prefer. As much tea and coffee as you want. The bar is lovely, we arrived back late but could still enjoy some Vodka and Tonics and read the papers before bed. I can highly recommend this family run Hotel.

Went to a 60th birthday party and had a brilliant time. The room was very neat and tidy and the staff were friendly and helpfull. Will definitely go back there soon.... Spoke to the owners father that night and he told me that there are going to be even more improvements, ie. re-decorating. There was free wi fi as well. The prices are reasonable and, WOW Breakfast was fab... yum yum full english brekkie just what we needed after over indulging on beer the night before. Thank You for a wonderfull stay!

Just returned after a one night stay from this hotel. We had gone for a 60th birthday party myself, husband and 17 month old. The staff seemed friendly to start with but about an hour into the party they decided that my little one was not allowed into any other rooms apart from the room where the party was because the locals had complained. It is impossible to stop a baby from exploring and they wouldn't close the doors to any of the other rooms. Therefore spent alot of time sat in the old fashioned room on a very uncomfortable bed!

Arrived in York on Friday evening at 8pm. Had a reservation at the Astley House but they wouldn't check me in because I arrived after 7:30pm! So there I was in York- tired, hungry and no room! I tried this hotel because all other hotels in York were fully booked. The staff were incredibly helpful and gave me a room. The service was brilliant and the room was clean. I would definitely come back to this hotel! Big thank you to the manager and his staff!
