We had a very unfortunate ending to what actually was a very nice stay. A group of about 80 joined me and my family for a weekend affair. The hotel was very accommodating and the staff worked hard to make sure everything went smoothly. Beautiful grounds, spectacular views. Rooms are average and the hotel lacks an outdoor pool (there is one indoor pool and spa).
The problem with the hotel is theft (the police confirmed that this was definitely not the first time) For us, it started on Saturday morning with a cash theft from a guests room. We took it to security who were at best good listeners. We thought we'd write it off to an unfortunate incident. Later however we learned than at least two other rooms had been robbed of cash and there likely were others. What was so disturbing about this was that the hotel supposedly had a video system in the hallways but the management refused to allow us or the police to see it (a report was filed and a warrant issued but we never heard back). And, we noticed that the rooms that had been 'hit' were only those that were booked to Sunday morning (most left that Saturday night). We also realized that the rooms were all targeted when the families were at the front desk for short 15 minutes to half hour intervals while working out plans for the following day -- an expected and predictable event. We believe that many workers at the hotel were involved which would make this an organized effort and something to take very seriously before booking there. Watch you cash and your wallet.
