“C Hotel in Neve Ilan-Shabbat experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We had three rooms last Friday at the C Hotel in Neve Ilan. The hotel itself is not as well kept as some might expect since the rooms and bathrooms have not been recently updated. There are two twin beds pushed together in each room and they are comfortable with clean linens. Each room also has one pull out twin sized bed and it appears that the hotel can add more of these; the rooms are large enough. There are toiletries in the bathroom. The hotel caters to large groups and large families. We went primarily to show our USA visitors the Shabbat hotel experience. Shabbat, Friday night dinner was tremendous with a bottle of kiddish wine on each table and challah (communal candle lighting is possible in the lobby). They offered two types of soups, at least 25 different salads and gefillte fish and chopped liver. They had at least 14 different hot courses to choose from and the desserts and fruit were plentiful. Breakfast was just as lavish. The hotel hallways get a little noisy with kids running around, but they eventually quieted down for a comfortable sleep. I didn't personally see the indoor swimming pool or gym, but I'm told it's there. If it's important for you to have access on Shabbat, you should inquire to see whether this is possible.

On your drive to the hotel, don't miss the Elvis cafe on the circle with the gas station. This is an unbelievable homage to Elvis that is extremely unusual in Israel or anywhere outside of the USA.

We were spending a very nice evening celebrate our son's Bar Mitzva on July, 2011. Everything was excellent - invite buffet, dinner, wine, service. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, especially, a top-manager Tomer. His help and attention were so great! Compliments to Chef - dinner was amazing!
Plenty of place around, cosy gardens, clean and pleasant area inside and outside. Thanks to everybody

“Lovely spot half an hour outside of Jerusalem”

We stayed at the hotel because of a wedding. We were surprised by the large, nice rooms, great views over the Judaen Hills, gardens, and pool. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was okay, but not quite up to par of most Israeli hotels.

“Excellent food”

The Neve Ilan, while pricey, is an excellent hotel to get away. It's a large property, with an outdoor pool and a huge restaurant. I've stayed at many Israeli hotels over Shabbat and this was the best in terms of food for its class. The rooms are average-sized and everything is clean. The service is good. The worst thing about it is the location - it's half an hour outside of Jerusalem and there's just villages around, which one cannot walk to. If you're looking to get away from it all for Shabbat, this is a good place. But if you desire any sort of proximity to Jerusalem, stay elsewhere.

“Be very careful before staying and keep your wallet close”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2010

We had a very unfortunate ending to what actually was a very nice stay. A group of about 80 joined me and my family for a weekend affair. The hotel was very accommodating and the staff worked hard to make sure everything went smoothly. Beautiful grounds, spectacular views. Rooms are average and the hotel lacks an outdoor pool (there is one indoor pool and spa).

The problem with the hotel is theft (the police confirmed that this was definitely not the first time) For us, it started on Saturday morning with a cash theft from a guests room. We took it to security who were at best good listeners. We thought we'd write it off to an unfortunate incident. Later however we learned than at least two other rooms had been robbed of cash and there likely were others. What was so disturbing about this was that the hotel supposedly had a video system in the hallways but the management refused to allow us or the police to see it (a report was filed and a warrant issued but we never heard back). And, we noticed that the rooms that had been 'hit' were only those that were booked to Sunday morning (most left that Saturday night). We also realized that the rooms were all targeted when the families were at the front desk for short 15 minutes to half hour intervals while working out plans for the following day -- an expected and predictable event. We believe that many workers at the hotel were involved which would make this an organized effort and something to take very seriously before booking there. Watch you cash and your wallet.
