“Bad Customer Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We stayed in the hotel a few times.
BAD:
1. The receptionist certainly was not pleasant and welcoming, but rather strange and rude at moments. We aways had to wait quite a bit to service the customers. He might be a great person, who just doesn't like his job, I don't know.
2. There is no WIFI available in the rooms and the receptionist always provides the same inadequate response that it is not working for some reason.
3. The charged us $22 for the child, after the fact, without any notification, although we booked thru Southwest, all of us were at the reception during the registration; and there was no indication of such a charge anywhere during that process. So, be aware. I sent them a note about that and will update if they respond.
GOOD:
1. The hotel is conveniently located next to Applebee's, shops and the casinos.
2. The interior is IKEA style, reasonably fine looking.
3. TV and other amenities are OK for such a hotel, overall, normal.

Room Tip: Either floor was just fine.

“Interesting remodeled rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We stayed here the last week of October for one night, were charged $45 as the lowest rate they offered, the place was empty. I guess someone else negotiated a better deal at
$39.
There was no 'grumpy' man, rather two friendly ones in the afternoon and morning.
The room was pleasant, clean and nicely decorated with IKEA like items by someone with a good eye for colors. We liked the bamboo floor and the large screen TV, the heater worked well, so did the fridge. What did not work so well for us was that we agreed to stay in a room really close to the road, which did not quiet down as much as we were told. It was to get pretty cold that night, so we wanted to be close to their office for our cup of coffee in the morning. There is no breakfast.
Our room did not have a coffee pot, no microwave, no hairdryer and awfully thin towels. The towels are in a cute basket, but there is no towel rack to hang them on to dry, just a single hook. So we had to get extra towels in the morning. The shower was good. I liked the magnifying mirror, but unfortunately for me it was mounted too high. The bed was comfortable. The table/desk was of a good size, the two chairs looked attractive, but were not comfortable for us. We liked the lighting in the room.

Room Tip: Definitely get a room in the back, check their rates by phone and internet.

“Recently renovated. Rooms were great.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

We ere a bit leery because we got rooms for only $39/night, but it was fantastic for the $$. They have obviously remodeled recently: new bedding, bath fixtures and large flat screen tvs. It was really nice. Other reviewers are right about the man behind the counter. Not friendly at all but not rude either. There is a shopping center with a Starbucks across the street, and the casinos are walking distance away.

“Good place for a night in Tahoe”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

The place was clean and most of the staff were friendly enough. I have stayed here before as on a weekend night the price is very affordable for tahoe and it is close to the casinos and night life. The only issue is there was an elderly man behind the counter at check out the next morning and when I asked for a reciept for my room he said he does not have one. I asked why and he said he just did not have one. I left, thought about it and under no circumstance did i want to leave without one so I returned and asked him to please give me a reciept he then rummaged through my paperwork and tore off a copy and threw it at me! lmao.... angry old man!!! I would stay again as I just laughed and walked out the door. For the price I can deal with 1 grumpy old man for a few minutes. Good luck with the old feller! :-)

Room Tip: Ask to pay cash you might get a discouont

“So nice - mailed me all of my left-behind jewelry!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

My fiance and I booked this place en-route to Lake Tahoe, based soley upon price and availability over the 4th of July weekend. It was a gamble, but we were pleasantly surprised. The room and bathroom were well-sized and clean, which is really all you need at a place like this. The old man manning the front desk is a trip - a bit gruff, but he means well. I recommend this place so highly based on my experience with them AFTER having checked out. I had (stupidly) put our valuables - including tons of jewelry and my fiance's watch - in a drawer thinking they would be safer that way, but of course forgot about them when it was time to pack up and leave. It hit me the next day we had left everything behind, and of course I was in a panick. We're talking thousands of dollars worth of stuff here. I could have kissed the guy I spoke with over the phone - he had all of my stuff safe and sound and mailed it untouched to the address I gave him over the phone. Believe me I checked - and everything was there. A place that goes to this much trouble and can be trusted with such valuable items gets an A+ in my book. Nevermind that the wi-fi in the rooms wasn't working :)
