Blocks away from the California Lodge at Heavenly and walking distance to great restaurants. Rooms are newly decorated and cozy. The owners are very friendly and I will definitely be staying here again

Alder Inn is a great place to stay. The four of us stayed at the Alder Inn between 21st to 23rd of January 2012. The location is literally 5 minutes away from the Heavenly ski resort California base with quite a variety of food places to checkout within the vicinity. The owners, Chad and Layni, were super helpful and friendly just as what all the other comments has already mentioned. Layni did an excellent job with the cozy decor too :). Chad was really helpful in providing information for us to navigate around the region. We will definitely stay at the Alder again the next time we are at South Tahoe.

Last but not least, it always feels like home when we drove by the lobby and seeing Chad waving his hands greeting us when we return to the Inn :)

My husband and I had a wonderful time and enjoyed staying at the Alder Inn. Chad and Layni were low key, friendly and helpful with referrals to places to check out. The weekend breakfast was awesome. They did a great job with the decor.

Luckily 4' of snow dumped right before we arrived and we were happy the Alder Inn was so close to the slopes. Chad and Layni were very accommodating to say the least. It was so nice to have local knowledge and to know they were available 24/7. The rooms were so comfortable and Chad and Layni work very hard making sure. Awesome time. I'd go back for sure.
