“old, smelly, scam artists!”

I checked into this place after a 10 hour drive. It was dark by that time, parking lot was under lite, There was a lot of rowdy people handing out outside there rooms. Walked into my room and was taken back by the smell of smoke. There was a non smoking sign on the door, but wasn't stated on my reservation. I've stayed in places like this before, was to tired to go complain about it. Next morning I started calling around for a hotel down in Reno that I usually stayed at, and cut my loss with the two nights I paid for. When I got home I wrote a review similar to this on travalocity who i booked through. A couple weeks later when my credit card bill came in there was bogus charges on it. The motel Charged me $300 and $4 dollars on separate transactions. The room was paid to travelocity but a card was needed for incidentals. I called immediately and the front desk said the charge was for smoking, but he'd never seen a charge so high, and didn't understand what damage caused $300 dollars. He asked me to call back after 3 pm to talk to manager. I did so and the manager said he'd call me back later after talking to the owner, since I did not smoke inside the room, and it was a preexisting condition when I checked in. It was even stated in picture messages dated 5 minutes after I checked in to numerous friends. I stated "place is kinda s****y and smells like smoke". I had to call back Monday and the manager answered. He stated he talked to the owner. They have had issues with smoking in the room and want to put a stop to it. Well it was not me, why should I pay for something the housekeeping staff should have noticed prior to my arrival, at least left the windows open to air it out. That's what I did when I left the room before coming back for the 2nd night, and seemed to help. They claimed there was complaints of me smoking in room, and staff saw me smoking in the room. It is ridiculous. That doesn't even make since, when I was there the blinds and door was closed. Not to mention I was only in the roach motel to sleep and shower. Everything was booked in Reno for the 2nd night of my stay. I have complaints in with the Better Business Bureu for Reno\Tahoe area, and fraud alert with my credit card company. The have yet to respond, though it is going on 2 months since my stay. Can't wait to take these people to small claims court.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

“BED BUGS!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

This hotel is invested with bed bugs. They are like mosquitoes in that they feed on human blood. I found a live one crawling around, small blood stains, and poppy seed sized black bed bug excrement on the sheets and around the bed. I had severe allergic reactions all over my body from where they bit me in the night and then they came home with me in my luggage so now I have them in my room and potentially the rest of the condo. For this very reason they are a major public health concern because they travel so easily.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! You will end up paying three times the cost of this cheap hotel in pest control and doctor's visits.

“Clean and convenient”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

I really enjoyed my recent stay at the Ambassador. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and accomodating and the room was spotlessly clean. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to get a nice, clean room with a fridge, microwave, and a generous amount of towels and toiletries for such a low weekend rate.
My husband and I enjoyed the nearby public access beach. It was a peaceful place to watch the sunset. I also liked that we could open the room windows and enjoy the mountain air as we slept.

“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

This place may look so-so from the outside, but they have very clean rooms and a super friendly staff! My Husband and I stayed two nights and we were even allowed to bring our doggy ($15/night fee), we will be staying there each time we visit Tahoe!

“Never again...........we will not return......!!!!”

We believe the motel and web site misrepresented a few ammenities listed. We were informed the rooms had fireplaces and that we would be charged a fee (billed separately from the motel room) of $3 for a "tourist fee". Really. We booked our room the evening of our stay and arrived late (after midnight) due to staff providing very poor directions. Our room was over 80 degrees with only a ceiling fan to cool the room. The windows offered virtually no relief. After calling the office to inquire "where and if there was an air conditioner", the manager replied, "there isn't any air conditioner." My response was, "oh great, I just paid $71.00 for a room with no air." The manager rudely replied, "that's about it in a nutshell". The decor is very outdated.....reminds me of decor from the "I Love Lucy Show" dating back the 60's. The robin egg blue tub and shower enclosure was the give-a-away........The towels were sparce, small, and scratchy, no complimentary shampoo, body wash, shower cap, or lotion were provided. The walls are paper thin. I thought the toilet was running, but it was the guest next door that we shared the water pressure with. The bed was hard as rock and felt like we slept on a trampoline. We were forced to move the bed to the middle of the room (under the fan) to get relief from the heat. The ceiling fan kept us awake because the globes rattled from being off balance. All of our communication was via telephone and we could not locate a live human until the following morning after the "complimentary breakfast" was 45 minutes late from serving....serving was joke. After the manager opened the office late (due to a female employee not showing up ) a few guests helped themselves to room temperature capri sun juice, packaged cinnimon rolls and energy bars. We talked to a few of the guests and they said, "their room was so hot they went to Kmart and bought a floor fan because their ceiling fan only turned on to low." We would not recommend this motel to anyone.
