We are a family of four with children aged 8 and 7, from Australia. We did a lot of research online before we booked and this property exceeded our expectations. My husband had been to Tahoe before so we knew what to expect of the township etc. You can't beat this location, right at the Gondola in the heart of the village. We had 2 bedroom appt for 2 weeks on the 3rd floor which was just lovely. Kitchen fully equipped, good space and storage, pleasant decor, comfy beds and decent bathrooms. The fireplaces in the master bedroom and living area were fantastic. All very clean. The staff were excellent, we had no issues at all. The ski valet was good, but the charging of storing our shoes was not so good. It was a new policy, not so sure it was necessary! All the staff went out of their way to make us welcome and were so genuinely helpful. The only issue we had was the amount of chemicals in the hot tubs....actually gave us all a bad rash and all our swimmers had all the pigment taken out of them so clearly there is an overdose. We had to stop using it after the first week, which was a shame because it was so enjoyable and part of the apres ski! Many have commented on the lack of restaurant choices. Agree it wasn't great so we did end up cooking a lot. The supermarket across the road was very well stocked. Fire and Ice was one restaurant we did enjoy, along with Kalani's. Both in the Mariott complex. Coffee from Driftwood cafe was good and the best breakfast place with loads of choice. The ski school was fantastic, amazing! Well organised with excellent instructors and our kids loved it. The Tamrack lodge was also a great set up on the mountain and we ate their most days. Sky Deck has great BBQ and excellent bloody mary's! Can highly recommend Mariott, we will most definitely be back and for us we thought while it was more expensive than other properties it represented good value for our experience.
