“Simple comfort, great service at an exceptional price...”

We are trying to purchase a home in Tahoe and in the last month have stayed here on three separate occasions for several nights. The front desk staff is welcoming and informative. The rooms are simple yet enough, especially for how economical this hotel is. The beds are very comfortable (there are two types of pillows for those picky about fluffiness). I commented on the softness of the towels and the attention to extras offered (coffee maker, fridge, safe, shampoo, etc).

Yes, people arrive at various times of the evening but that is true of many hotels. We enjoyed strolling to the casinos and restaurants nearby and having drinks without having to drive home.

Big Pines is surrounded by abandoned hotels. Do not let that frighten you. This is a perfect spot to escape to, especially on a budget. We will be back next week.

“I was accused by their manager bcz of pointing on carelessness of receptionist!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Hotel is basic, good for the price of 55$.
Has a small kitchen, which is great especially in winter. They should buy new towels though, bcz the one that they give u looks old. It is very cold in the bathroom, bcz they dont have any kind of heater there.
Breakfast is included but it is sooo basic:( would recommend them to add some eggs, bacon or salami, cheese or at least smth. And the most important, the receptionist responsible for filling out food during breakfast time, should pay at least some attention to it, bcz I had to ask and tell her that u ran out of this or that, she just couldnt care less about it. And more to it, as I understood she complained to the manager that I was demanding smth from her. And than he called me, asking what problems I had during breakfast (frankly it was the least thing on my mind by that time), saying he wants it to be right for his customers, but at the same time he said that he was told that I was agitated (I wasnt) and he repeated this word to me min 10 times during our 2min conversation, I was stunned!, basically he was accusing me that his receptionist was careless. And if before the conversation with him I was thinking to stay in this hotel again, so after it I didnt have those thoughts at all.
And next day it was better at the breakfast was, they ran out only cheese (the only one that they have there), so she noticed it, may be after 5min. But she even didnt greet us or say hello, she was avoiding me. At the same time having chat with some other guests.

Room Tip: Very close to Gandola.

“Typical for what you'd expect, but EXCEPTIONALLY pet-friendly......”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I just stayed at Big Pines January 6-8, on a weekend ski trip with a friend. The best thing about this place is their attitude towards people travelling with their pets: it was GREAT, no issues at check-in, no complaints during my stay about my dog being there, barking, etc....Some minuses: there's not really too many choices at breakfast: it's like sub-par continental. No cold cereal choices, no bananas, dixie cups of juice? Really? This place is not a chain motel, but it's breakfast certainly was. The pluses: the room was clean, not too small, there was ample heat and hot water, and the microwave and fridge were in working order. Other pluses: the location. Close to the Heavenly Gondola and Heavenly Village, the Casinos, etc....location can't be beat. The BIGGEST plus: the price! I paid $37 + taxes per night!!! I will most likely stay again on a future trip, unless another place to stay materializes for me.Overall, though, a good value for unexceptional, yet solid accomodations.

Room Tip: Go second floor. There's no one up above you. Place seemed quiet overall though. There's no...

“Great deal, warm, clean and spacious room plus continental breakfast! Pets allowed too :)”

We recently had a great experience at BPMH. $45 plus taxes for a King room (#146). It was worth every penny. Nice, clean and spacious room with excellent heat. Safe in room and if you need, dogs are allowed for $15/night. Great location as well, nice and quiet but close to everything. I would definitely recommend folks to stay here and look forward to doing so again soon. Note: Prices in house are more than what you can get online. They will match internet prices. The best I found was on Orbitz.com

Room Tip: #146 is a spacious King bed, non smoking room.

“Great place for a last minute trip to Tahoe!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

This place is great for anyone heading to South Lake Tahoe at the last minute. You cannot beat the price for a place that is so centrally located to restaurants, casinos, ski lift and the beach (within 2 blocks of everything you need). You even get free breakfast in the morning! The room itself could use some updating but is a very good size and more importantly clean.

One thing to point out, while this hotel is only 2 blocks from the main attractions, it is located on a very dark road without much street lighting. It can be a little scary to walk at night, especially with all the constructions around and some of the motels nearby that have gone our of business.

Overall we were very happy with our stay. The staff was very friendly and very willing to provide us with recommendations about the area. We will certainly be back next time we are in the area. You cannot beat their prices!
