“Retro stay right on the lake!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

We go every February with a group that takes over the whole place. Cabins vary in size from super small one room to medium sized 2 bedrooms. Gorgeous views of the lake. Many cabins have full kitchens. The rooms in the lodge right on the highway are pretty small and a few have shared bathrooms. Walls are thin but street noise isn't too bad.

The beds and furniture are so so. Bedding and linens are cheap and worn, but clean. Rooms are clean but generally a little worn and in need of a good update. Doesn't bother me but could be an issue for picky travelers. The large shared room in the lodge is nice and has recently been redone.

Very kid friendly. Lots of space for kids to run amok. Tiny store on the property has a few basics if you run out of anything or want coffee. Employees seemed helpful.

“Beautiful place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Stayed here for a family wedding. It was really beautiful being a couple minutes walk to the lake and mountains. The hotel room was really nice with unique wooden furniture. The bathroom was a bit small but did the job. The sink faucet needed to be replaced though. Lots of nice walking trails near by.The food at the general store was a bit over priced but was still nice to have close by.

We would love to come back someday.

“cabins”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

Hands down this is the spot to be in the winter. During the summer it seems kind of busy and chaotic. There are several small historic cabins right on the lake, come mid-week, mid winter and you almost have the place to your self. The cabins themselves are rustic not fancy at all but fit the place perfectly.

Room Tip: choose one of the lake front cabins

“LOUD, righ off the highway”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Camp Richardson is actually a large complex with: a "hotel," one and two bedroom log cabins, tent grounds, a general store, a rental for bikes/kayaks/etc, marina, and ice cream store/coffee house. I stayed here for a wedding and did not know cabins were an option, or I would have picked that. Instead, we were in the hotel and it was smmaaallllllllllll! Like the tiniest rooms you have ever stayed in. They keep it rustic with camp-y decor, and no TV. The bathroom is so small that the door hits the toilet when you open it half way. Noise and smalls carries throughout the room as if there were no walls. I hope you sleep like a log, because otherwise you will not sleep. It is sooooo noisy. Plus the rooms are directly off of the highway and you will hear cars and motorcycles go by alllll night long. We tried to move to a cabin, which are all a lot further from the road, but they were sold out.

For people considering a wedding here, dont do it. The staff seemed unprofessional and too laid back for a wedding atmosphere.

“Too noisy/rude campers”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011 via mobile

The problem with camp Richardson is that it attracts campers who just want to party into the early morning hours and with no security patrols you are pretty much left to the mercy of that type of crowd. Had to call the police a couple of times to shut down parties that got out of hand. Bottom line if you have a family or are looking for a quiet getaway this is not the place. However, if you want to party into the wee hours of the morning with a whole bunch of drunk idiots. This is your place. Campers beware!
