“I had to report my stay to the police as we found a hole in the wall opposite the bed that led into a maintinence room”

Our stay here was terrifying, I have travelled around the world, I am very easy going and i have never left a review as i'm not the type however.... we stayed in a room here that had lion wall paper, the whole room was covered by lions faces which i thought was cool at first, until me and my parner had already been in bed and found a hole where one of the eyes had been cut out of one of the lions in the wall... i looked through it to find it led to a maintinence room that also had 2 way glass next to the jaccuzi so they had been able to see in, i was terrified and packed up and left in the middle of the night to stay in a motel down the road. We then went to report this to the sherif but the station was closed as it was a public holiday!!!

I would genuinely not stay here... it is not safe!! i went back a few days later and confronted the owner, I was terrified and told them i was going to the police, I told him he was a pervert and that he had been looking at us.... he didn't seem to care much he didn't even deny it....... very dangerous

“A Wonderful stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2009

This is an old hotel that has been reasonably well kept up considering a management company that doesn't want to spend money. The manager, Sam and his wife Natasha are wonderful people that only want to make your stay special. The rooms are old but not bad. We had a great jacuzzi tub (STE A) and sat on the porch enjoying the peace. We will definitely return

“Hands Down the Worst Motel I've Ever Stayed In”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2009

As connoisseur of cheap motels (we try not to spend more than fifty bucks), I have lots of low end properties to compare this dump to. This one was by far the worst.

We got a two-bed room. How many towels would you expect? At least four, right? Nope. They provided two. Two towels and two bars of soap and some plastic cups. No shampoo, no coffee maker, no continental breakfast (or even coffee) in the lobby, no hangers in the closet (!), all amenities we have found at other cheap motels.

The room was absolutely filthy. There was a wet spot on the carpet next to the mini fridge I don't even want to contemplate. It looked like the carpet had not been vacuumed in at least a month (to give them the benefit of the doubt), the toilet bowl was dirty, the shower was dark, and maybe that was a good thing. I shudder to think of what I might have seen growing in the shower if there had been light in the bathroom, and there was trash (empty whiskey bottles, etc) under the beds.

I went to bed fully clothed, and now I'm sitting here itching just remembering the place.

Don't pay more than fifty bucks to stay in this hole! And even that's way too much. BUT it is in South Lake Tahoe and very close to Heavenly. So for the location and the hot tub, it is not a complete loss. But there are other places in the same location that are worth the few bucks more you might have to spend.

“Stay Away !!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2008

Stayed at the Tahoe Hacienda Inn in South Lake Tahoe in February 2008. The place has turned into a dump. Here is what I encountered in my room during my stay: 1) the light above the desk was burned out or inoperative; 2) 1 of the 2 lights in the bathroom was burned out; 3) the lamp shades on both side of the bed were filthy and torn; 4) the "towel bar" in the bathroom only had the 2 ends with no bar in-between them; 5) the bath towels were more like hand towels; 6) the green carpet was filthy and desperately needed shampooing or replacing; 7) the shower door was about to fall off of it's hinges; 8) when showering, if another guest turns on their hot or cold water "watch out' , you'll be scalded or frozen in the shower.

I have stayed at this Inn (motel) in the past and it was ok for the price. However, the current owners/managers have really let the place go. It was, as are most motels in the area, built in the 50's. The Hacienda looks quite rustic from the outside with old pine trees throughout the parking lot and property. One of the other reviews states that the property is just a short walk from the Heavenly Ski Gondola, it is not. The Hacienda is quite a drive down Lake Tahoe Blvd. I believe they may be confused with another property at which they may have stayed.

Bottom line: Stay away, you can do much better for the price!

  • Liked — The pine trees in the parking area.
  • Disliked — Rooms: dirty, lights burned out, micro-thin towels, no upkeep, just awful!
