“Nice choice for ski season”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed in a 2BR/2BA condo which was very comfortable, clean and nicely furnished. The free shuttle was great so we didn't need a vehicle to get to restaurants, grocery store, or the Heavenly Gondola. The hot tub was nice, although a little bit of a hike. They have discounted lift tickets to a few areas, but Liftopia had better discounts. Sierra at Tahoe and Kirkwood have shuttles that pick up at Lakeland Village which we liked because we wanted to try other ski areas. I would look into staying here again.

“Nice selection right on the lake”

We have stayed here twice, once in a townhouse and once in a hotel room. We have enjoyed both accommodations and thought they were good value for the money. Free underground parking in the winter was a big plus. Hot tub and pool out at the beach are nice, too. Great beach with very shallow water a long way out. The free breakfast wasn't much, but we didn't need much. The only downside was that my son tripped on the cords for the wood blinds because there are no little knobs to wrap the cords around, and he broke his arm. At least there was no wait at the ER....

“could still be improved”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We went again for our 3rd stay to this property. This time we made a reservation in the Pine Grove Condos. We had one bedroom condo 472. The location was quiet but no covered parking. The only covered parking is the garage under the lodge.

Because of our prior experience I sent an email to the reception that we would appreciate to have a better or nice room than we had before. The condo was nice but could still be updated. The furnitures seemed to be new and updated but the kitchen, especially the refridgerator could be updated. The apparently replaced the wood fireplace with a gas fireplace but the electical cables are all over. I dont really care so much about it for a weekend but I am just thinking of small children not sure what happens if they play with it.

The heating system could also be improved. The heater turns on and off immediately consecutive, even though the tempature is reached. Odd and noisy.

We noticed some light skunk smell occasionally. We thought there was a skunk maybe living under the house. Was not too bad but should be checked.

We had one bad experience: The bedroom door was apparently locked with a key. One morning I opened the windows to let fresh air in. That the house doesnt cool out I closed the bedroom door. Later I found out that the door was locked. There were no keys neithr a splint or pin in the house to reopen. it took almost 1:45 minutes to have the door re-opened from the maintenance. Again this is a no go. What if small children would have been in the room??? I had to call the front desk at least 4 times to get this handled. Not good.

Last thing to be improved are the light switches. Not sure how to explain this but the lights were weird in this condo, never there where you expected and not easy to turn on/off. Seems like they are just in the wrong place.

The location is a bit away from the gondola but the lake is right there. In Winter they offer free breakfast at the lodge. They have two hot tubs. Also they offer competive packages that includes lift tickets.

However they have an excellent shuttle and their staff is always very friendly. This time it was a better experience than we had before. We will stay here again and find out if it has been improved.

Tip: if you rent a one bedroom condo in the Pine Grove area and you travel with more than 2 people, be aware that there is no bathroom upstairs. The condo we had had two beds upstairs on the 3rd level which was reachable only through steep stairs. If you need a bathroom at night you have to go all the way down to the 1st level. Especially to be considered when you travel with younger kids. The stairs are really steep. I know that every condo is owned by individual owners so it might be different in every condo but if you care you should check with the front desk before you get there.

Please read my previous reviews for this property for additional information.

Not even sure where to start with how bad our experience was at this place - the room was dirty and run down, the noise from the hallway and the room above was awful, and they charged us the full stay though we left early.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Located a bit away from all the hub-bub of the gondola and chair lift for skiing at Heavenly - but still close - within a mile - was very nice. Our unit was steps to beautiful Lake Tahoe. They upgraded our unit from a one bedroom/sleeps 4 to a 3 level townhouse which would have slept 10! Full kitchen, flat screen TV, gas burning fireplace (without inset which was kind of goofy), step out nice sized deck. The unit did need some remodeling but was clean and very adequate for our needs. We were there over Christmas, scoring last minute reservations. They offered an amazing Christmas dinner delivered to our condo/townhouse refrigerator on 12/24 - all we had to do was reheat it. Very nice after a day of skiing and sight-seeing. Another odd thing - the place featured one full and one 1/2 bath - but they were located right next to each other on the first level! Odd - but it worked out fine. Also cleaning was a bit of an issue. One day they came in and cleaned even though we had the do-not-disturb sign hung. They took our towels despite a sign stating if towels were hung up they would not take them to conserve water usage. The next day they didn't arrive to clean at all (we did not hang out the sign) and we ended up calling around 4pm because we needed a few things. So. They offered a breakfast each morning also - typical fare - waffles, hard-boiled eggs, etc. I believe this is only offered during winter months and ski season. I would stay there again and I would refer friends to the place also.

Room Tip: I would request something close to parking as this can be a hike with luggage and ski equipment!
