“Cute, Trendy Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We stayed here because it was the only place we could find with availability the week between Christmas and New Year's. It was off the beaten path but a nice find. The staff was great, very informative. The room was a little small but the bed was very comfortable. There was no view to speak and parking, while plentiful, was difficult to maneuver even with a small car. It seems like it was a remodeled hotel. The structure feels old (squeaky and uneven floors in some places in the halls) but the trimmings/decor have a modern rustic feel. Reclaimed wood adorns the interior and exterior spaces. It's eco-friendly attitude is apparent throughout. The free "breakfast" of organic breads was decent; the breads were great but more like a morning snack than breakfast. Apparently they have a return customer program with really good prices. I would stay again if it was only for a few days. Any longer than that and the room size would start to wear on me.

“Great little CLEAN place...”

This place lived up to it's reviews. My Gf and I stayed a few days for my birthday and it did not disappoint. We stayed in the King Room and it accommodated us well. The room was not big nor were the bathrooms but it was VERY clean and nice. The bed was very comfortable which is a plus plus in our book. Normally when we stay out of town, we dread wondering if were are going to be able to sleep at night because of the hotel bed. This bed was pretty nice although the sheets seemed very thin and it was difficult to figure out the temperature level knob for their radiant heater. One minute it was too warm and then the next, it was a bit cold.

Walking distance to the casino is literally 5-10 minutes. There are alot of food places to eat close by and you don't have to worry about driving. (Driftwood Cafe, Fire and Ice, Pizza and Raleys is across the street as well for any groceries you need)

We will definitely return to this hotel in the future for any of our travel needs to Tahoe. This is a perfect little spot for Fourth of July, New Years, etc. The larger hotels like Embassy are way over priced and this one is just as good for us.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 2nd floor, would have preferred the third because you can hear people walking above...

“One of our favorites!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The staff are awesome, had Fat Tire on tap, rooms were clever and attractive, within walking distance to Heavenly village. We basically loved this place entirely and plan on staying again. Kudos for design and Eco friendliness!

Loved the decor, bathtub, hotub, price and service. Could do better with the breakfast breads - add fruit? Loved the coffee. Thanks!

“Don't expect much”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

One star is for the friendly and helpful staff, one star for the location, one star for the effort they put into "being green".

This hotel is in a great location - walking distance to Heavnely Village and the casinos. Everyone who worked there was very nice and friendly, but if there is another trip to Tahoe in our future, we'll be staying somewhere else. Staying 4 nights, our room did not get serviced once. Maybe it was the Christmas holiday - I don't know, but it was pretty annoying. The 1st time, Christmas Eve, they knocked at about 10:30am, and we were not ready to leave. After returning to the room at about 4:30pm, not made up. Christmas Day, we were out early, came back for a nap at about 4:30pm, they knocked, we said please later, but already knew it was a long shot. Day after, out early, didn't come back until about 5pm, no service. Day after that was checkout.

Someone else mentioned rm 203, which was our room. I usually request a change if I find the room right next to the elevator, but this time I didn't. Mistake. The room door is directly across the hall from stairwell that goes down one flight to the lobby, and the single window faces Park Ave. Very noisy. Throw in walls thinner than rice paper, and it was just not a very relaxing place to be. Especially because they play music in the lobby and thru outdoor speakers, one of which is positioned just below the window of this room.

I'm not sure if we missed it on this or any other website, but we went with the expectation of not having access to a hot tub. Excited to find an indoor one, we got suits at one of the shops. The 1st time, the tub was super-chlorinated. 2nd time, not so much.

Bed linens were nice, bed not too comfortable, towels like sandpaper. Room was furnished along the lines of a monk's cell. Very spartan. And the lighting was totally strange, with spotlights by the window, bright light over the vanity, and two little reading lamps over each side of the bed. After the 2nd night, I was longing for a Marriot.

Maybe it was the room, maybe it was the holiday, but all in all, not a place I want to return to.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms over the lobby and facing Park Ave.
