“Another beautiful stay”

We stayed for a birthday celebration just before Christmas, with the bonus of the hotel being decorated for Christmas. The owner himself greeted us, and from that moment to our departure we were made to feel welcomed, and special. The staff to guest ratio is high, the food superb, the individual bedrooms all superb. (We stayed in "Lake" on the top floor, down a quiet corridor, a large room with a beautiful view of Rutland Water). For that special celebration, its worth every penny, I know we will return, and hopefully soon, thank you.

“Not the 'wow' factor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Having discovered Hambleton Hall by chance a couple of years ago and finally staying we were a little disappointed as it did not have the 'wow' factor. The room was ok, however as we had booked for three in the room, it was very disappointing to see that they had not prepared the room accordingly-only two robes and glasses-at this kind of establishment you expect attention to detail. The atmosphere was pleasant and the communal rooms comfortable, and all staff were helpful and courteous. The canapes before dinner were excellent and the food of the standard expected however both at dinner and breakfast the 'waiting' staffs skills were not of the standard expected. A lovely Hotel set in a beautiful location and all in all, a relaxing break, with good food but not value for money.

“Really spoil yourself with understated perfection”

We booked a mid-week autumn offer at Hambleton Hall on Rutland Water in September to include Dinner and B & B. We were given an upgraded room with southerly views over the gardens down towards Rutland Water some 800 yards away. Everything was beautifully presented in the room and en-suite and the decoration was immaculate. Pre-dinner drinks in a very comfortable lounge area were accompanied by exquisite canapés which appeared without fanfare as a lovely surprise. We chose to upgrade to their tasting menu (£21/head extra over the agreed deal) and we did not regret it. We enjoyed a leisurely gastronomic delight as each dish arrived, maintaining the same outstanding standard. The meal was accompanied by an extravagant bottle of Gevrey Montrachet. The service was very professional and unpretentious. After a very comfortable night, the breakfast was outstanding with an amazing choice of bead, cooked food, fish, fruit etc. Yes we spoilt ourselves and the bill was £515.60 but, my goodness, what an experience!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the gardens (south side) are very good.

“Lovely setting, beautiful room but could do with air conditioning!”

Sitting on the terrace, sipping a glass of champagne and overlooking Rutland Water - it does not get any better than this. It is also great to be able to walk down to the waterside direct from the hotel. We had a beautiful bedroom - very spacious and with great views. However, even though the weather was not particularly hot, the room got uncomfortably warm during the night. I would not want to stay there during hot weather! Service throughout was great.

“Gracious, glamorous & gourmet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

Wonderful hotel; elegant & graceful. Simply perfect. The rooms are lovely but quite small, the dining experience is a delight, the service is impeccable. So often Hambleton is compared to Stapleford, other than their proximity there is little comparison, their atmosphere & ethos are so completely different. Stapleford shouts at you from the rooftops, where Hambleton whispers gracefully. They are both wonderful places to stay, experience both, Hambleton for the delicious gourmet experience & an amazing wine list, Stapleford for the incredible bedrooms & wow factor. I can't wait to go back to Hambleton.
