“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

We had a wonderful stay and were so sorry to have to leave Avril, Derek, Marcello and Bucket the cat. They accommodated our vegetarian preference, even offering to drive to David to pick up veggie burgers for us. The grounds are breathtaking. Take a kayak and paddle around the islands. Stop at the hotel across the bay and have a cold beer. This is a place to relax and enjoy. A sunset boat ride with wine and beer and wonderful conversation with Avril and Derek topped off a most excellent stay. Avril and Derek are fantastic hosts and have so many interesting stories about their life's adventures...just ask. We can't wait to go back.

“Perfect in every respect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

If you're looking for a serene, relaxing getaway with excellent food and gracious innkeepers, Seagullcove Lodge will fit the bill. It is beautiful, immaculately clean, and engaging in every way. There are multiple areas for lounging about, from the sitting room, to the pool deck, to the beach area, to the Tiki Hut at the end of the dock. The view of the cove, with its moored boats and distant islands, is soothing, as is the sound of the surf at night. The rooms and public areas are beautifully appointed, the landscaping lush. Every meal was innovative, healthy, and delicious--I've never had tastier vegetables. And where else can you get a sunset cruise with beer or wine for $10? Derek and Avril, the managers, are attentive, interesting hosts, eager to please but not intrusive. It was an utterly relaxing stay, and we plan to return.

Room Tip: One bungalow, the highest and closest to the dipping pool and lodge area, has two double beds, perfe...

“Pure Relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

A beautiful setting made even better by the wonderful owners Avril & Derek who go out of their way to make you feel at home.

The view down the hillside to the bay is quite incredible and I don't think you could ever get bored of it.

They have built a beautiful Tiki bar with hammocks down on the waterfront which is a great place to relax as is the sun deck by the small pool.

A great find.

“What a Great Find in a Remote Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2011

Owners Jim and Susan and property managers/hosts Derek and Avril could not be more congenial hosts of a luxury remOote 5 room cabana lodge in Boca Chica Panama
( 1 hour or so out side of David). Most tourists arriving in David are off to Boquete or Bocas del Toro - but they are overlooking a special gem of peace and relaxation on the Pacific side at Seagullcove. The 5 individual cabanas have a queen bed ,AC , porches overlooking the sea and boat anchorage, nice hot showers and are facing the ocean where the sounds of waves crashing the seashore lulled us to sleep. The cabanas are built with 2 in mind - but two of the cabanas had 3 guests while we were there. The staff is very attentive and the food is very good ,reasonably priced and well prepared ( locally sourced and fresh)- one night we had a freshly caught red snapper to die for.. Because of their size - there are reasonable dining hours - although a great salad was made for us after a late arrival - even though it was off hours. We quickly felt like honored guests and old friends. There are lots of activities - fishing, diving, kayaks, wildlife tours, etc. One evening Derek and Avril took us out on the resort's recycled USN life boat for a sunset tour - it was spectacular. This was our 4th trip to Panama - and I think we enjoyed our brief stay here as much as the very expensive resort closer to Panama City. Seagullcove Lodge is built on a hillside above the shore - there are steps down to each of the cabanas and to the beach. On the beach the resort has a Tiki bar - manned from noon until 5:00Pm where you can lounge in a hammock or have a cold one. I was told that often they have cook outs there as well. Because of the steep incline - guests should be physically able to traverse the stairs (if you are like me -it will quickly let you know if you are out of shape)-nor do I think it's a great location for young kids either. We hired (resort set up) a local boat captain for a personal tour of some of the many islands. We stopped and had a swim at a secluded beach surrounded by a pod of dolphin. We had a great 3 hour trip - just perfect before I got too sunburned..
We think Seagullcove Lodge is a great find at a beautifully remote location.

Room Tip: we stayed at the Tanager ( local bird) room

“Treated like royalty, friends, family!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

From the second we drove into the gates of the seagull cove until the moment we left, our family was treated as royalty, friends, family! An incredible warm group of people, managed by two fantastic hosts Avril and Derrick and Bucket, the cat, made our 4-day stay one of the most relaxing and enjoyable we have ever experienced. The lodge is a jewel, the views are stunning, Marcello makes the best lemonades for the kids and mojitos for mom and dad, the food is fresh and prepared with great care and Avril and Derrick are the most dedicated, warm and hospitable hosts we have ever met. They arranged everything for us, a sunset boat ride, a boat ride to a private island with a well-prepared picnic. They suggested us to take the kids to the Alouatta lodge, not too far from the hotel, where you experience up close and personal interaction with howler monkeys and a great lunch if you like. An experience we will never forget. This lodge is the perfect getaway from it all and for us it certainly was the highlight of our 2 weeks discovering beautiful Panama.
