“Great setting - Great hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

Just returned from an unfortunately brief stay at St Georges Court. We visited Lightwater Valley nearby (10-15 mins) and needed a room for a night for myself , wife and three kids. (6,4 and 7 months) St Georges Court was in a great locations and the host's were great in making us all feel very welcome. They gave us tips on local activities for the kids and where and when we could get supper . The morning after the stay the weather was terrible and they recommended nearby pools with slide flumes and activities to keep us all entertained.. A great stay and would recommend. Thanks.

Room Tip: Family room - Double bedroom with adjacent twin for the kids

“A fantastic place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

We returned here after a previous visit, as we had enjoyed our stay so much. Our double room had been refurbished to a very high standard (though we did find the new mattress a little too firm for us!), and was well equipped for our 3 night stay - the flapjacks were particularly welcome! The breakfasts were magnificent, with a wide range of meals on offer and with friendly and attentive service. The owners were particularly helpful and friendly, and we shall definitely be returning.

“Such a find, a great little place with fantastic breakfasts too”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights while attending a friends birthday party in the area and cannot recommend it highly enough. We had a double room and it was very well kept with lovely touches.

The breakfasts were outstanding and the owners incredibly helpful and friendly.

We would highly recommend a stay here.

“Perfect stay for a young family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

We stayed here for a long weekend with our two young children and booked the family room. Normally we would stay in a hotel but we were attending a wedding nearby and trusted the good reviews on here - so pleased with our choice, it was the perfect place! A lovely large family room, nicely decorated, with a beautiful beamed ceiling and everything you would need - well stocked tea tray, hairdryer, etc - plenty of space for the cot, a separate bedroom for our son (small but it served its purpose, only for sleeping in after all) and a very smart bathroom with twin sinks and underfloor heating.

There is plenty of parking behind the courtyard, the rooms have their own doors directly off the courtyard so there's plenty of privacy and you don't have to disturb the owners if you're returning late, plus the courtyard has some picnic benches in the middle if you are lucky enough to have some sunshine as we did. Our son absolutely loved the place, he could run around safely in the courtyard and play with the children that live at the farm while we watched from our window - in fact, whenever we went out, he was asking us when we were going to go back to the farm to see his friends! Happy child = happy parents!

Breakfast was delicious, hot, served promptly, in a large, light room with a huge choice of jams, and 'proper' toast - freshly cut crusty bread. There was always a big bowl of fruit salad on offer, the same as I would make at home, all fresh fruit, nothing tinned, plus the usual yoghurt, prunes, cereals, juices etc. You can't ask for more, we've stayed at numerous hotels over the years where you sit waiting 10 minutes for someone to turn up with toast or ask you if you want a cuppa, this kind of breakfast was a whole new experience for us, lovely!

We went to Harrogate (about 25 min drive), Ripon (nice local town with some lovely boutiquey shops) and visited Newby Hall - another hit with our children and well worth it with a great little train ride and a huge playground. Just worth noting that there is no mobile signal at the farm (well, not on Orange at any rate) and no WiFi so if you needed to keep up communications it might not be the place for you, but we enjoyed a bit of peace and quiet!

If we visit Yorkshire again we will definitely be staying here!

“Way of the Roses good second night stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2011

Stayed here with three friends whilst cycling the new Way of the Roses route (Morecombe to Bridlington). Stopped in Settle previous night and stayed at St George's Court night 2. It's marginally off the route but well worth staying here. Extremely friendly reception, spacious accomodation with nice little touches - rechargeable torch!! Why? Good to use for half mile trek to Grantley Arms for dinner (another recommendation ). Most immaculate bathroom in ages and fabulous breakfast. Bikes safely padlocked too.
