I was so excited with the idea of staying in a luxury eco-tent over a waterfall. The pictures made the hotel seem so tranquil and peaceful, but in reality it was isolated, empty. It felt like you were a prisoner to the hoteliers for food (which was not all that great), entertainment (DVDs) and transport, and they could charge whatever amount they wanted. Chiange Mai, city center was more than an hour away and we had to depend on our hoteliers for everything.
The eco-tent would have been lovely if it hadn't rained the whole time we were there. We ended up getting holed up in our room as we tried to stay dry. The bedroom was nice and it felt luxurious, but the bathroom itself was scary because rotted wood would fall on the floor and bathtub, rain would drip into the room, there was hardly any light and windows wouldn't shut, thus allowing bugs to get in.
The spa and the hotel were overpriced. We were glad to experience the stay for 2 days but were looking forward to head back to civilization into the heart of Chiang Mai.
