First impressions this hotel was fab, but by the time we checked in it had already gone down in our estimation. No conceirge and no lift - 3 flights of stairs with heavy bags = 2 girls struggling whilst the male receptionist looked on. Not a great start!
The room was perfect - a wonderful bathroom that really made it a cosy little break away for us. The only problem was the temperature - even with the radiators off the room was like an oven - it was middle of winter and had snowed but I was roasting!!
The noise of the aircraft didn't bother us, so no issues there.
We used the groupon deal which meant 1 night dinner and bed and breakfast. The dinner was appalling - barely a 3/10. The starter - halloumi with mushrooms was shocking - cold mushrooms and one slice of cheese - if I had paid the full £5.95 I'd have complained and asked for my money back. The main course, fillet of lamb was greasy! There was a lot meat but was fried in too much oil - greasy and tasteless. Shame ... oh and £4.50 for a bottle of still water left a sour disappointed taste in our mouth!
Breakfast on the first day wasn't a great experience. They serve until 11am - great we thought, we could relax in the morning and not rush for breakfast. That was our mistake. Arriving at 1030am the restaurant was empty and all the food packed away. So instead of having a 'help yourself' to cereals, bread, pasties, juice etc it was brought to us by the waitress. The english breakfast was ok - no black pudding and told the delivery hadn't come in. Funny that they had no delivery of black pudding on the 2nd day either!!
Overall, lovely hotel but it's missing the finishing touches that would make it excellent.
