“Lovely house and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

We enjoyed our stay at Ennys - the house is beautiful and the rooms are spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and well equipped. On arrival Gill offered us afternoon tea in the pictureque gardens which was great after a long drive.

The house is located about a mile down a private country road and the setting is so peaceful and tranquil.

It is a very professionally run B&B (although I would expect this as the nightly rate is reflective of a 'higher end' B&B). The bathroom was well stocked with white company toiletries, the towels were good quality and soft and the shower was very good (grohe). A fulllist of local resaurants and accompanying short reviews were also provided. We used this as our guide for the weekend and the recommendations were spot on. Ennys also offers free wireless internet access and there was also access to an Apple Mac in the house.

Breakfast was excellent and included more choice that the average B&B. Daily afternoon tea is also served. There is even an outdoor swmming pool available to guests.

The only down side I would say was the bed - it is all down to personal preference but we found it very soft.

“Beautifully presented and professionally run”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2010

We stayed one night B&B late May bank holiday for £130. An absolutely fantastic rural location, a short drive from the coast and restaurants/ pubs. The Georgian house has been beautifully renovated, decorated throughout in relaxing tones with interesting pieces of art to capture the imagination. The outside grounds, including tennis court and swimming pool, are equally well conceived and beautifully maintained. Afternoon cream tea on arrival is very welcome after a long drive to Cornwall and the breakfast is high quality with a good selection cooked to order (not just the usual tired fired breakfast). Thoughtful touches like the information in the room recommending a variety of activities, walks and restaurants is excellent.
Ennys strikes the perfect balance between classic English rural retreat combined with modern comforts and decor.

“Very good, a few caveats”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2009

Gorgeous gardens, lovely main house down a long country lane. Gill gives you excellent driving and walking tips you should follow. Good breakfasts. Gill is quite pleasant and helpful but is not the kind of B and B owner who wants to sit around and schmooze with the guests so don't expect it. My disappointment was with one of the cottages--Hayloft. It is a bit rustic for my taste, and I wonder if the main house (which was full) would not have been a more comfortable and well-decorated place to stay.

“A perfect retreat in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2009

We visited Ennys for my partner's birthday weekend. I wanted somewhere special to day and was lucky to find just that. The house and gardens are beautiful and so well kept. The peaceful atmostphere just washes over you and you are immediately in holiday mode. Our room was lovely, the bed was comfortable and the linen was fresh and crisp, the information folder was packed with useful local knowledge and both the restaurants that came recommended to us by Gill - The Victoria Inn nearby and Portminster Beach Restaurant in St Ives were excellent. The breakfast at the house was delicious too. If I had to be critical, the only fault was the toiletries - no soap at all and an inadequate supply of shower gel & shampoo for our stay, it would be nice if these were replenished daily. But that tiny moan aside, we highly recommended Ennys for a luxurious and peaceful stay in this lovely area of the country.

“Your Dream Country Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2009

Wow what a wonderful find! This is one of my favourite guesthouses and after a lot of travelling that takes a lot to say!

Situated in the middle of the countryside down a secluded lane is the most perfect Georgian house you will find, with immaculate gardens and beautifully presented rooms you knew you were staying somewhere special. As soon as we arrived Gill welcomed us and we settled in with a scrumptious cream tea in the garden.

Our room situated in the house had a four-poster bed and a modern bathroom, the décor was stylish and the bedding so soft and comfortable, it was lovely to sit on the cushioned window seats and watch the wildlife in the garden. There is also a heated outdoor pool which my husband tried out.

Breakfasts were lovely and the atmosphere was very relaxed. It was great after a day of sight seeing to return to homemade cakes and tea in the afternoon. Gill was very helpful and made our stay very welcome, with only 15 minutes to reach St Ives and Penzance it's an ideal location for exploring Cornwall. The local beach of Praa sands is lovely and also only 5 minutes away. We will definitely stay again on our next trip.
