“Beautiful surroundings - food was rather a disappointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

We live in the area, but this was our first visit, for lunch, to the pub in Crackington Haven. I have to say I have no complaint with the service which was friendly and willing. Obviously the surroundings, even on a rainy morning, are outstanding. However, when it came to the food, it was nothing special and when we lunch out, we at least want something that we can't have at home! I ordered the crab cakes as a main but the two thin cakes (tasty nevertheless) with a dip and a bunch of salad wasn't what I'd call anywhere near a main meal, and as a starter??? One crab cake perhaps. My husband's Chilli was okay, but again, no side dips and it was very basic. The menu online suggested a choice of fresh fish - fish and chips can be bought anywhere, and the other fish on the menu was over priced, for a lunch. We'd probably go back, but this pub isn't one that will be high on our local return list, sadly.
I've not commented on the room because we didn't stay, and didn't see them. On the food alone, I have to give this a thumbs down - sorry. Perhaps the food is better in the evening/in the high season?
ps I would also comment on the 'toilet smell' that was apparent on arriving through the car-park entrance.

“Incredible views and Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

I am a seasoned visitor to Crackington Haven and so with a few meetings in and around North Cornwall, I thought I would stay at the Coombe Narton which has had a fairly recent temultous past.

The place was quiet what with it being New Year, but the rates were incredibly cheap, the room I stayed in (Number 6) had incredible views, its own terrace/balcony overlooking the beach, it was clean and had very quick responsive heaters which was useful bearing in mind the weather. Needless to say, the terrace didnt get used.

The few locals in the pub were friendly, I only ate once during my stay, but that was superb and if anybody fancies Mr Barton's Fish and Chips, I whole heartedly recommend it.

A throughly enjoyable trip and there need not by any unecessary concern about the future of the Coombe Barton with landlords Helen and Carl at the helm who are clearly doing things right and just what the Coombe Barton needed.

“Beautiful place, friendly and competent staff, excellent food !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2010

We were tired when we arrived from the coast path and were very pleased to discover the Inn in the haven. We had reserved a beautiful and confortable room with a welcome bath tub.
In the evening we had two different delicious dishes and great ales.
The next morning we enjoyed an english breakfast which gave us the necessary energy for the next day of hiking.
One of the best places we stayed during our two weeks along the coast path of Devon and Cornwall !

“Great pub, great food, great accommodation.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2010

We enjoyed a wonderful 2 days in this lovely inn - the room was superbly decorated and whilst small had ensuite, and a lovely sea-view balcony. The owners were friendly, helpful and relaxed, and the location couldn't be better: all amenities close by. Highly recommended, if a little overpriced.

“An excellent evening celebrating my daughters engagement party.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2010

'Superb evening' With many thanks to all the staff particularly Carl the owner for being so helpful and for accomodating all of our requests, Excellent food, spotlessly clean and would highly recommend anyone use the function room for any small or large party venue.
