I returned from my first visit to Skiathos last week after a fantastic 2 week break. We stayed at the Elizabeth Appts as we were on a tight budget, they being at the lower end of the price scale. The island itself I think is beaufiful, ticked a lot of boxes, and has now gone to the top of our list of Greek destinations.
We were dropped off by the coach taking us from the airport at bus stop 16. Our bags had gone on ahead and we were told they would be waiting for us at the Elizabeth. The rep then told us to take a right and carry on walking for about 10 mins, we would see the apartments. At first this seemed a bit disconcerting but off we went and fair enough 10 mins later we arrived. This obviously became a regular trek about 4 times a day, I enjoyed it myself but some people I know got to hate it.
The appartments were set in pleasant gardens, were typical basic Greek standard, hand held showers etc but were fine.
The pool area was a decent size, and for most of the time only seldom used. The bar area seemed well stocked and decent food was available.
The whole area is so quiet, but that caused a problem in itself. Any noise seemed to be amplified, and people with rooms close to the bar suffered at night, not because of excessive noise, but because the bar area was not enclosed, any loud conversations and laughter really carried.
The apartments themselves were cleaned on a regular basis, but were never mopped out. Towels were changed twice a week.
Only a few moans from myself, I asked for another pillow, never got one. After a couple of days I asked for a change of light bulb above my bed, never happened, and whats this about having to supply your own toilet roll ? In 30 years visiting Greece that was a first.
However I enjoyed my stay there but would only say it was average accomadation.
