We only had 4 nights in New Zealand, and needed to pick one location to relax and enjoy the area. Adrift at Golden Bay was absolutely perfect! Adrift has it all - welcoming hosts who pamper you the entire stay, a magnificent property located on the water, a very romantic setting, and a great location to enjoy the local scenery and attractions. Rather than having to leave your cabin for breakfast, the hosts provide a daily basket to your cabin - complete with locally grown fruits, delicious breads, and an assortment of granola, homemade yogurt and jams. What more could you ask for? Your day can be as laid back as you want, staying on the property, or you can venture out and visit awe-inspiring attractions such as the PuPu Springs and Farewell Spit. I would highly recommend a stay at Adrift!

Room Tip: No tips to pick a good room - they are all good !

“Be prepared to stay content in your Bungalow - Cos you wont want to anywhere else!!”

There really is nothing to be said about this amazing hideaway, except if you are looking for some time out somewhere you can relax and really unwind then look no further! Everything is so private, the breakfasts are awsome, the spa bath is amazing and the beach is perfectly close! Although you feel miles away, you are close to everything you want to do - Or you can do nothing and enjoy the serenity. Go! You will not regret it!

Room Tip: We had Cabin #4, it is not a beachfront, but its hidden away :)

“Romantic getaway”

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place for me to study for my upcoming licensure exam in the US amidst our travels, so he found Adrift as our 5-day destination for me to seriously study in the most beautiful place imaginable. In one word: success.

The first thing that struck us as we drove down the driveway to the beachfront cottages was: is this for real? The path takes quite a while to drive down, and it's lined with the most romantic arrangement of trees. When we actually got to the cottages, we were once again blown away by not only all the amenities that were readily available, but the view of the beach. The bathroom is also gorgeous, complete with Jacuzzi bath.

The breakfast hampers were delicious. They give you a basket of food for the morning and you prepare it yourself - a system I'd never seen, but fully support now. The owners were readily available to help us out, whether it was advice for where to go, what to do, or if they had cooking oil. Gordon even led us to a penguin sighting! Very exciting stuff.

In total, this place is not to be missed if you're looking for an idyllic, peaceful getaway.

Room Tip: Cottage 1 is the honeymoon suite and is basically on its own plot of land if you want a lot of priva...

“Absolutely perfect!”

The guide book said that possibly the only drawback with Adrift might be that you wouldn't want to leave. It wasn't far off the mark. With so much beauty to see in NZ (and particularly South Island) choosing our itinerary for our holiday from the UK was always going to difficult. Having read about the beachside setting and after reading the family's website we had high hopes. We arrived after a long drive under grey skies but knew immediately we'd made the right decision. The accommodation is faultless, the setting perfect and the atmosphere totally relaxing. For the next 3 days we had the beach virtually to ourselves as we explored, under blue skies. It is no surprise that the family have been here nearly 30 years. Gordon & Bess were a delight to know and will help you with anything you need (thanks again for the use of the laptop, Gordon!)

Room Tip: All the houses are well positioned but we can highly recommend the Honeymoon Cottage
