“Looking forward to stay No. 5 :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

Having found this B&B by chance we couldn't have asked for more, we highly recommend you stay here. There's is always a warm, friendly welcome. We have enjoyed stays in a number of rooms which are to high standards. The beds are REALLY comfortable, room 1's matresses are hand-made!! The decor is classic country style. The breakfast is cooked to order. Wonderful all round! The garden is superb and open to guests. The views are lovely and from the rear rooms you can only see one other building's light at night. The first time we stayed we woke to the sight of lamas wandering around the field at the bottom of the garden. Very peaceful and a great place to recharge your batteries!

“B&B TO RIVAL ANY SMALL HOTEL !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

Having looked at previous reviews on Trip Advisor we were pleased with what we had read but wondered why there had been no reviews for two years.
We needn't have worried !
We arrived on Saturday morning after a long drive and having turned off the main road into a quiet country lane we were very pleased to see this lovely old house in front of us.
Jennie welcomed us on arrival and from that moment we knew it was the right choice.
What a wonderful way to spend a weekend. Jennie was the perfect hostess and couldn't have been more helpful throughout our stay. Always friendly but not imposing.
The house and gardens were just what we had been looking for and ideal for spending a quiet weekend away from it all.
A few months previously we had been visiting the same area and stayed in a hotel nearby.
The hotel was less friendly, noisy and more expensive.
Pity we did not find this place earlier.
Would highly recommend the Farmhouse if you want a nice relaxing weekend in the country with friendly service and nice surroundings.
Oh, I nearly forgot the Alpacas.
How nice to see 24 of them wandering around in the field at the bottom of the garden !

Room Tip: The two bedrooms at the rear of the house have wonderful views of the garden, Alpacas and surroundin...

“Beautiful Farmhouse and Garden-Great Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2009

My husband and I were greeted with a warm welcome and smile from Jenny at 10:00 pm the night we arrived. Seeing that we were tired and possibly hungry she immediately offered us a snack and some hot tea. The farmhouse is a beautiful home in a picturesque enviroment. Just what we wanted and was portrayed on the website. Looking beyond the garden is a alpaca farm and beautiful English countryside beyond that. We enjoyed watching the adult and baby alpacas play and frolic in the fields. I wish I could have taken one home with me. We both felt welcome as if we were at home or staying with good friends. We enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere and our conversations with Jenny and husband Ellis. If your looking for a beautiful "homey" place to stay with lovely hosts. This is a great place.

“Highly recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2009

My partner & I stayed overnight at Barrows Farmhouse en-route to Cornwall on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. The rooms were exactly as they appear on the website - and the surrounding gardens (with llama? farm in the next field) were terrific. Jennie's home cooking is wonderful - and the breakfast the following morning was equally delicious. I would definitely re-book and recommend.

“At long last a b&b to write home about”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 March 2009

I have just returned from my stay in England and it was my first experience in a b&b and thanks to Jennie and Ellis the owners it won't be my last ! I didn't want to go to a hotel because apart from always being too expensive ( and usually not worth the money) I wanted somewhere more homely.
I couldn't have found a nicer place to stay , even if I tried! I was welcomed at the door with a warm and genuine smile by Jennie and Ellis and they made me feel at home from the moment I walked in the door.
My bedroom was a tastefully decorated and spacious double (Jennie said it was a small double but thats because the other room I saw was enormous) which I used as a single. I had the use of a big tv , facilities for making tea and coffee and even a hair dryer. The bathroom is ensuite with a power shower, and the good quality complementary soap etc was a really nice touch. The bedroom overlooked the beautiful garden and I could see for miles across the fields.
I must say that the mattress was so comfy ( one of my worries before I booked) that I could have layed there all morning reading my book and drinking tea! Breakfast was cooked by Jennie in a beautiful breakfast room with daffodils on the table ( I had my own table) and at long last I had a lovely piping hot and delicious full English! Sometimes in the hotels it's cold, fatty and rubbery!
If you want to experience real English hospitality, sleep in an extremely comfy bed with beautiful linen , in lovely and peaceful surroundings in the English countryside, then go and stay at the Barrows farmhouse b&b in East Chinnock in Somerset , as you won't find a better deal or better hospitality anywhere else!
