We drove along the Norfolk coast and stopped when we found somewhere we wanted to stay. We were greeted at the George by friendly attentive staff who showed us three different rooms from which to choose. We decided upon the most expensive which had an adjoining sitting room, spacious bathroom and views of the marshes (Room 3). We loved it! Yes, the settee was a bit old but nice and comfy. The bed was fab, with quality linen and lots of space. Bathroom was beautifully appointed - all good. Although it was sub-zero temperatures outside, we were lovely and warm and in the morning awoke to a frosty view of the marshes.
We ate a late lunch on arrival, evening meal and breakfast. All meals were lovely. Plenty of choice and prepared to a high standard. Any aspect of baking seems to be the chef's speciality as we enjoyed beautiful home baked bread, naan breads and sticky toffee pudding to die for! If you are on a low carb diet - no worries, the rest was fab too! For breakfast, my husband had the Full English, which he enjoyed and I had smoked haddock and poached eggs.
We really enjoyed our short break at this cosy hotel in a beautiful spot. I know it is very busy in Cley in the summer but certainly recommend it out of season.
