“Just what I wanted.”

I had Christmas and New Year at the ranch, Everything about it was just right, My room was clean and fresh a little away from main building,: I rode three diffirent horses one a little faster than the other but each very well trained. We covered new ground every ride and saw so much of the way of life and countryside vast flat area, steep rock, and wooded streamsides. We got to see the local culture, in a night at the village, a day at the market and a day at the Piramids site. The staff all do their jobs very well and would help in any way. The food was great with the self service bar to start or end the night.

“Great riding, great ambience and wonderful hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Just returned from a riding holiday at Rancho with my husband and 20 year old daughter. From start to finish, Uschi, Jenny and the Rancho team made sure we were well cared for. From the lovely accommodations, beautiful grounds to wander and contemplate, great food from chef Ivan, and of course....to the stars of the show....the wonderful horses, which would guide us and thrill us for the next five days of our tour around the high plains of central Mexico. The horses are well cared for, well mannered, surefooted and ready to go. They matched horse and rider, and were amenable should you want to try other horses during your stay. The ranch offers excursions as well, for riders and non riders alike. The excursions were organized, well planned and within easy reach of the ranch. We went to see the great sun and moon pyramids of Tiotehuacan, visited the charming town of Tula, to see the Atlantes and smaller pyramids, and visited a local market in Jilotepec for some great shopping and delicious lunch of sopas and quesadillas. We were pretty tired in the evenings, but should you want to stay up and digest the wonderful dinner that Ivan cooks up every evening, there is a pool table and darts. There is also a lovely library with comfy sofas to lounge and peruse the many books that they have accumulated over the years. The pool and hot tub were not warm enough to use, but while we were there, Uschi was adding solar panels to allow for the pool to be heated and useable even in the colder months. As of this review, they are also now set up to host yoga retreats and have a beautiful space overlooking the horses and pastures for which to meditate and do yoga. I would absolutely recommend this vacation to anyone or family wishing to connect with nature, each other, enjoy a cultural experience in a beautiful and safe atmosphere, and ride!!

Room Tip: the casita was very roomy for the three of us. The rooms in the Pueblito were charming and had a goo...

“Great place to ride and relax”

We stayed for a few days over Christmas with our two teenage daughters. We were picked up promptly from Mexico City and driven to the ranch in a comfortable vehicle. When we arrived we were shown around and made to feel at home. Our room was big enough for four of us, clean and homely, complete with a terrace.
Everything about the ranch was great from the welcome, the food, the pool, the company, the horses, the staff. We enjoyed al fresco lunches, huge dinners, especially the Christmas extravaganza, chilling by the pool, as well as of course the riding.
The horses were very well trained, the wranglers really helpful. There was always a choice of pace, and although none of us ride regularly, and our youngest was a little scared we all enjoyed the rides.
No complaints at all ... the girls are already asking to go back next Christmas!

“Great place for Christmas break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

I loved the accommodation (especially our rooms that opened out on to the courtyard.) Uschi runs the ranch like a boutique hotel where the staff really aim to make each guest welcome. I really enjoyed the pool, the jacuzzi, and the food was so varied. Christmas Day was especially fun with a 10-course evening meal followed by a display of local dancing. Talented dancers with such colourful costumes. Great entertainment.
The riding itself was the best I’ve done. Maybe I was just more relaxed than usual but the horses definitely knew their job. They were obedient and dependable. The ranch have 32 horses and could provide a horse to suit all requests from complete beginners to hardened cowboys and cowgirls. Yee-haw!! The temperature was hot during the day, but not uncomfortably so, and the evenings were cool.
The bonus that made the holiday so much fun was the mix of people I met. Most guests, singles, couples and families, arrived with a sociable attitude and we made friends really quickly. Rides and meal times were fun, with some very silly conversations.”

“Dream Family Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Superb relaxation, gorgeous views, excellent riding (even for those who have never been on a horse!) The ranch is rustic but luxuriously comfortable, beautifully designed and built. Small, friendly, with highest quality in mind. You can ride all day or snooze by the waterfalls, sit in the hot tub while someone makes you another cold beverage, get a massage after that all-day ride or join the excursion to the pyramids/markets/ruins- always coming home to wonderful meals. There are well-trained horses for every level of rider from the gentle plodder to the dancing trickster and Uschi and Jenny will make suggestions for you each day based on your experience and desires.
We had a family of four with children 10 and 12 and none of us had much riding experience, but now we're hooked and we will be back to Rancho Las Cascadas. There is truly something for everyone and there were plenty of very seasoned riders there who enjoyed themselves as well. The wranglers are kind, watchful and a delight to ride with. Every ride, every day is different in this wide open, big sky country. It is an ideal family or single vacation spot where every wish can be granted. You will be tempted to stay forever if you visit. Caution: this is a real life adventure not a corporate theme park!

Room Tip: Our family of four enjoyed the big L shaped room with one King and two twins.
