On arrival at Red Gables we were greeted by Millie, their gorgeous dog, and then we met Sandra Corbett, the Proprietor. We were warmly greeted after a long and somewhat tiring journey from London and shown our accommodation.

The accommodation is in a converted barn behind the main house overlooking fields and trees from the various windows, so peaceful and friendly. For summer visitors there are various seating areas on balconies and outside with wonderful vistas.

Downstairs we were shown the amazing kitchen/dining area. All brand new and sparkling and very welcoming and a plasma TV. Sandra told us to help ourselves from the fridge which was full of everything from fruit juice, water, yoghurts, etc. never experienced this before.

We were then shown upstairs to our rooms. There are 3 rooms one double with shower and balcony, one double with shower and one twin with bath. Soft fluffy towels, even a flannel, delicious soaps, shampoo, shower/bath wash, cotton wool and buds, all up to 5 star standard.

Sandra provides a tray of tea and coffee making items including the most delicious biscuits, milk and cream, even tea pot - just what we needed on our arrival. There was a hair dryer and even a notebook and pen, in fact so many extra touches hardly found in hotels today, oh yes and a torch!! Oh yes and Samsung plasma television in each rooms. We all slept so well that night in the comfortable beds looking up at the sky light watching the stars.

The guest sitting room has a huge fire, huge TV, Sandra even leaves out a selection of movies to watch. Large comfortable leather sofas and large balcony with table and chairs.

We were the only people staying that night in a double and twin room but felt sure that if there were other guests this would not prove a problem - for a couple I would recommend, perhaps, asking for the double room with balcony with has a door to the corridor of the other two bedrooms which could be shut at night or whenever!

The breakfast was absolutely delicious, we had full English along with toast and jam etc. Sandra offers a menu including Smoked Salmon and I seem to remember Eggs Benedict - loads of juice and cereal choices, top top standard.

There are various eateries nearby to visit, just a short car drive, at reasonable prices which Sandra will tell you about if you wish further information and for tourists this is a perfect spot for travelling around Shropshire being 18 miles from Shrewsbury, a little longer to Ludlow and, of course, the Welsh border!!

I feel sure that anyone lucky enough to be able to book at room at Red Gables will be more than happy. A double room was £50.00 and my son had the twin room at £60.00 inc Breakfast.
