“Rectory Farm Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2010

I stayed at the Rectory Farm Bed and Breakfast when I took a garden tour in the Cotswolds in August, 2009. It is It was a perfect addition to my trip! This beautiful country home is located on 450 acres and the setting is just lovely. I stayed in the pink room...spacious and cozy at the same time. Elizabeth is the perfect hostess, appearing just when you need something. I still think about her scrumptious English breakfasts. I would definitely return to the Rectory Farm.

“Absolutely Awful!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2009

My partner and I were very unhappy with the accomodation on the whole and our romantic weekend was spoilt by this place.

There was no shortbread and tea offered when we arrived, as promised when we booked. We then had a horrible shock to find clothes and a pram belonging to someone else in our wardrobe when we got into our room!

On the second day, there was no hot water provided so we both had to have a very cold shower. I suffer from bad back aches and the cold water made it worse.

When it was time to pay, (cash only!), we were told it was £10 more per person per night as otherwise told to my partner when he booked. She insisted he made a mistake!

My partner and I have travelled a fair amount and were extremely disappointed with the room and service.

I am surprised that the review above stated access to the 'drawing room with a log fire'. We did not have access to it at all and had to spend the weekend in a cold room, with cold water and a wardrobe full of someone else's clothes!

“Fantastic B&B with spacious rooms and great food”

Rectory Farm is a B&B which has been accredited by Wolsey Lodges. The latter specialise in high quality B&B's, and they were quite right to select Rectory Farm. Nigel and Elizabeth have lived at the farm all of their married lives, and have three teenage children. From the moment we arrived we felt that they did everything they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

Our room was beautifully decorated and very spacious, with a separate seating area. The bathroom was shower only but again beautifully presented. Importantly, given the time of year, the room had adequate heating - surprising how some places don't!

The farm is located on the edge of the village of Salford in the Cotswolds and many footpaths lead from it into the surrounding countryside. We walked for miles on the afternoon of our arrival and hardly saw a soul. When we got back to Rectory Farm there was a roaring fire in the drawing room, where we were served tea. This room is reserved for guests, and we were lucky enough to have it to ourselves (there are three guest rooms in total).

Breakfast is served in the dining room at a table which could easily seat twenty. We were offered everything one could have wanted, and more besides. The quality of the food is very high: Elizabeth also has a catering service for corporates events.

We ate at The Fox Inn in Lower Oddington in the evening, book ahead as it's justifiably very popular.

All in all I would highly recommend Rectory Farm and think that it represents fantastic value for money.
