“Pool and beach service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Beautiful resort, nice casino and spa, comfortable bed and beautiful rooms. Staff is very polite and friendly but service around the pool take a long time to serve you and at the beach you have to go at the bar, because they don't have servers around the guests! Pez Negro is my favorite sushi restaurant now. It belongs to Mantra property and is right in front of the beach! Beautiful place, adorable girls serving tables, nice view and elegant tables displayed around the restaurant. I really enjoyed lunch there.

Room Tip: Every room has double windows so it dons bother the nosy from the pool.

“Excelent amenities, but poor service.”

I found the apartment and bathroom really good, nice bed, shower, towels, and the gym room. But I also got frustrated how poor was pool service. Employees didnt go ask guests what they want to order, we had to request them always. They didnt clean up dirt tables, we also had to call them to do it... In a general view the hotel team doesnt care about little details, and this is a important thing I expect from a usd300 5 star hotel. This team didnt show high commitment with the guest confort, they do the basic.

“Beautiful but overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

I'm currently staying here for an event being held in Mantra's convention center. The resort is beautiful, clean, comfortable and peaceful. The gym blew me away with the amount of new equipment they have including full pilates machines with daily classes and a spin room with regular classes. It's winter so I haven't been able to enjoy the pool but the area is beautiful to look at from the restaurant in the morning. I'm staying in a junior suite that has a spacious lounge room separated from the spacious bedroom with a decent sized bathroom. No balcony but at this time of year it's not needed! The staff are exceptional and helped me hire a car within minutes on my first day which was then driven to the hotel for me. The only downfall is the overpriced meals that you're almost forced to have because the resort is in such a secluded area that there's no other nearby options - not at this time of year when everything is closed in town anyway. The buffet for lunch is $25 USD for just the salad bar (including basic pasta) or $45 USD if you want to add any real food. Dinner will cost you around $50 also. Room service is grossly overpriced: a piece of overcooked salmon cost me $40 and a risotto with lamb (which was nice, but still not worth it) cost $48. A small bowl of soup is $18.

“Nice hotel and spa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2011

A nice hotel albeit quite expensive (even off-off-season). Service was just okay and there were very few guests at the time (I believe only 12 of the 99 rooms were filled). You would've thought service would've been much more personal or attentive w/ so few people there but it was quite low-key instead. The room was very comfortable and the mattresses and bedding definitely superior. A quiet spot but w/ no view of the water (and we were in one of the nicest suites) but a pretty forest/park behind. The gym was one of the best anywhere and the spa looked very complete too. Restaurant was good but not great and very expensive (even for there). You definitely need to drive everywhere as it's a bit removed, and off-season you need to go to the next town for dinner (20 mins each way). Don't know that I'd go back but no huge complaints either...

Room Tip: They all looked nice and comfortably located

“Great Hotel near Punta Del Este in La Barra”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2011

Great location in La Barra, near Punta Del Este.
Quiet and tranquil resort. (Well, we were there Off-season and I doubt that it would be the same during HIgh-season.)
Very spacious and modern rooms, offering in room Wi-Fi service, which by the way worked great.
Bathrobes and other amenities to be found in room.
Nice private terrace in front of room (we were based on the ground floor.)
Plenty of sun lounge chairs by the outdoor pool.
Great gym situated in La Mantra Plaza (which is reachable by the Pedestrian tunnel) with pool which was heated a bit too much.

Room Tip: We booked online, but also called the hotel before
