“Excellent Short Stay at the Carpenters Arms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

We recently had an overnight stay at the Carpenters Arms during a quick pre-Christmas visit to Bath, Wells and Street. The Inn was all that you would hope for from a typically English country pub. When we arrived we unpacked in our very clean and well apppointed bedroom (with ensuite) and made our way to the bar where we sat, with a drink, by a blazing log fire - lovely!

We ate at the Carpenters "Coopers Parlour" in the evening and the food was very good. Overnight the Inn was quiet and we had a good nights sleep followed by an excellent breakfast. Service throughout our short stay was efficient and friendly and we would not hesitate to recoommend th Carpenters Arms to others.

Room Tip: At a weekend I would recommend a room that was not over the bar/restaurant area as this would be qui...

“superb stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

Everything was great about our stay – the rooms were great (we were two couples, one with a baby), the pub beautiful and the breakfast lovely. It's dear but worth the price.

“Country pub/hotel for the gourmet”

I first visited the Carpenters' Arms about 15 years ago and went there again yesterday for lunch with my wife and some friends. Delighted to find it still an outstanding place. There are separate formal and informal dining areas in addition to the bar. Go for the informal - lots of atmosphere. Food was well up to scratch as I remember it from days of yore. Real ale served at the bar. The bedrooms have, apparently, just been renovated. Location South-West of Bristol about 10 miles from the airport makes it ideal for an overnight stay if you are taking an early flight, and much nicer than hotels nearer the airport. You may need a SatNav to find it, however. Lunch including starters, mains from à la carte menu, drinks and coffee came to £30. Highly recommended.

“Go there...you won't regret it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

I stayed at the Carpenter's Arms last weekend as there was a family wedding nearby. Everything was dealt with in a very friendly and efficient manner and with a smile on their faces! I needed to leave the pub at 8.30 on Saturday morning and with a busy day as Bridesmaid ahead was hoping I could have breakfast but as it only started at 8.30 I feared this may not happen...it was not a problem though as when mentioned to the manager, he gladly offered breakfast at 8am instead.

The rooms have all been recently refurbished and barring a lack of chests of drawers in some of the larger rooms (my cosy little room had one though!) were all equipped with everything you could need, including a very well stocked hospitality tray with fresh milk in a thermos (a great idea!). I would highly recommend this pub/hotel...they did everything right and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay...thank you for adding to what was a very enjoyable weekend!

“A Great Pub/Small hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

We have just stayed with a group of friends and family at The Carpenters Arms over a family wedding. We were 22 for dinner one night with about 12 staying. We were very well looked after and very well fed. The rooms are not large, but the beds are very comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were always helpful and friendly. Very popular with the locals and deservedly so. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Room 12 is the biggest, but you may be woken by deliveries! Rooms could do with more storage space.
