“Very impressed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

My husband and I stayed at The Evenhill on 4 February, we booked it because it accepted dogs. Our room was very clean, the bathroom was exceptionally clean, beautiful white fluffy towels. Comfy bed, crisp white sheets.

Once we checked in we had coffee in the bar which had a roaring fire.

We had dinner in the bar Saturday night which was gorgeous and breakfast on Sunday was freshly cooked, plenty of it and there were no cheap ingredients.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and we were made to feel very welcome, even Harry our Basset Hound got a bowl of water and lots of attention.

Nothing was too much trouble for the very friendly staff.

We will definitely stay again excellent value for money.

Got off the train quite late on and was too tired to drive home so we decided to find somewhere near the Euro Tunnel. Got out the laptop and found this lovely pub/reastaurant was very close by. It is set in a lovely village with countryside views. We arrived late and the staff were happy to feed us even though the food had stopped 15 minutes earlier....how nice was that. The food was fantastic and we had really good steaks.

We were greeted by a cosy bar full of friendly chatty locals and 3 friendly dogs relaxing by the roaring fire. It was like a scene from a movie when you come into the warmth after travelling for hours in bad weather. It really was an oasis of warmth and comfort that we needed.

The rooms were comfortable and clean and we slept very well. Breakfast was piping hot and was of exceptional quality made from local produce.

I would certainly stay here again and you can also bring your dogs...they are welcome in the bar and in the rooms too.

What a find....highly recommended. All for just £50.00 per room B and B.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

We chose this hotel because there is a bus service into Canterbury. Upon arrival, the first thing which welcomed us was the weeds growing at the front door. The flowerbeds were unkept and full of weeds. There was dust everywhere on the inside doors, but worse was to come: the bathroom in our room was very smelly and had not been cleaned (one had to hold your breath when using it!). There were stains on the toilet, the glasses were filthy, the mirrors were dirty and the shower curtains were very creased and full of mould. At least the beds were clean and comfortable. The breakfast room was also unwelcoming with dirty equipment standing around and even a mop and bucket in the room. Overall the service was quite friendly though.
