The spacious resort is right on the beach and caters for the upper working class in metro Manila. You immediately get the feeling of peace and tranquillity when you enter the resort. Get back to nature with a bamboo cottage, electric fan and no cable TV. There are no beggars, hawkers or party animals to be seen, just lots of happy families. Book in advance to avoid missing out during peak seasons
Beach - my first impression was: coarse, brown, dusty sand. Definitely not the powdery stuff on Boracay. The water is salty and not crystal clear due to the sand. However, the water is clean, refreshing and great for swimming
Food - at first I was sceptical about the set-menu meal package, you don’t have an option to opt out. I was surprised when the meals were expertly prepared and presented. The four course lunch and dinner was delicious, compliments to the chef
Rooms - we stayed in a beach front bamboo cottage with a fan. The climate is cool enough so we didn’t use the fan. The resort offers air-con cottages at a premium. There was no lock on our cottage only a clip, nothing went missing but I didn’t feel very secure
Prices - the rooms are priced in the mid-high range. Be prepared to add a 10% service charge and 12% VAT to everything! We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights in Dec 08 and it cost P16,775 including all meals. Drinks are extra
The staff are helpful and friendly. They didn’t charge us for an additional mattress for our son, or kayak hire and they drove us to Acuatico Beach Resort at no charge. We will be back. See www.virginbeachresort.com for more. Now we are off to Acuatico Beach Resort - 3 mins up the road
