“Spacious beach resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2009

The spacious resort is right on the beach and caters for the upper working class in metro Manila. You immediately get the feeling of peace and tranquillity when you enter the resort. Get back to nature with a bamboo cottage, electric fan and no cable TV. There are no beggars, hawkers or party animals to be seen, just lots of happy families. Book in advance to avoid missing out during peak seasons

Beach - my first impression was: coarse, brown, dusty sand. Definitely not the powdery stuff on Boracay. The water is salty and not crystal clear due to the sand. However, the water is clean, refreshing and great for swimming

Food - at first I was sceptical about the set-menu meal package, you don’t have an option to opt out. I was surprised when the meals were expertly prepared and presented. The four course lunch and dinner was delicious, compliments to the chef

Rooms - we stayed in a beach front bamboo cottage with a fan. The climate is cool enough so we didn’t use the fan. The resort offers air-con cottages at a premium. There was no lock on our cottage only a clip, nothing went missing but I didn’t feel very secure

Prices - the rooms are priced in the mid-high range. Be prepared to add a 10% service charge and 12% VAT to everything! We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights in Dec 08 and it cost P16,775 including all meals. Drinks are extra

The staff are helpful and friendly. They didn’t charge us for an additional mattress for our son, or kayak hire and they drove us to Acuatico Beach Resort at no charge. We will be back. See www.virginbeachresort.com for more. Now we are off to Acuatico Beach Resort - 3 mins up the road

“Best Vacation Time Ever”

White beach, calm seas, excellent food. secured environment, clean (very) facilities and very helpful staff.

We stayed in a bamboo house and it is clean, tidy and organized.

The kids love the kayaks. WiFI is available to connect to the real world.

Perfect place to have a quality time with your family. Excellent for retreat or to just enjoy the blessings of the earth.

Can't wait to comeback again.

“Relaxing but bit pricey”

The resort is located where the the main paved road of Laiya ends and the dirt road begins. It has an excellent and clean beach front - I may add ...well raked. We stayed only for half a day and just rented a parasol. Our kids loved the place, especially when they found the abundance of shells and peculiar stones at the beach. There were very few people when we visited except for a few foreign tourists. Food quality is just okay but a little expensive for the locality. Their staff were helpful and polite. We had no problems but plan on visiting other resorts in the vicinity to compare with this one.

“Harrassed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2008

The coastline was amazing! But that's nature I'm admiring.

As for Virgin Beach Resort, I found the prices unreasonable, the food substandard and bottom-line, I wouldn't go back here nor encourage any of my friends to do so.

It started with quotations. I was emailed a price of about Php7k+ a night. I negotiated for a discount since my family and I were to book a number of rooms. Over the phone they agreed to give me a discount, but a day after, I got a quotation emailed to me costing Php8k +per night! What the...

Fine. I was gullible so I took the overpriced deal. When we got there, service was nothing extraordinary and truth is I didn't get my money's worth. If another resort was to open beside it I'd have moved in a heartbeat. The beach was amazing though, that I can't deny. But Php70 for a cup of rice (not even full actually)...

Of course others may have a different opinion, but personally I strongly discourage supporting a business who's only interested in your money and not in taking care of you as a customer.
