“Rustic charm”

Gone are all the polish. Strip them all bare and enjoy nature in its simplicity.

I stayed here with my family and we rented three rooms.

Food is good and tasty, but if you are there late, there might not be enough left for you.

They have free fifteen minute massage that's quite useless -- the masseuse was no good and you'll end up frustrated.

Kayaks seems fun but they won't allow you to use it if the wind is strong.

I dislike the beach because it hurts to walk barefoot and the water will suddenly deepen. Wearing aqua shoes is highly recommended.

The Rooms are clean but they give the impression of being dirty. The lights or the beddings used, perhaps? My cousin, Stanley, who is very nitpicky, kept on complaining, saying that booking such a room for more than ten thousand a day is too expensive. I, however, finds it homey and nice.

“Had We Known”

Me and my friends/officemates gather round once or twice a year to have team building activities. This year, the 23 of us chose Sabangan Beach Resort over two others at it seemed to cover our demands just by merely reading through its website. We even called them up to confirm what was written there.

Much to our dismay when we got there:
- No 2 burner electric stove
- No 10 cup rice cooker
- No pots and pans
- No plates and bowls
- No cups and saucers
- No silverware
- No two extra single mattresses and pillows
- No Wifi
- Food is not as delicious as described by other reviewers

We talked to the agent on duty and explained that it is stated clearly on their website and their service representative verified that all written there are correct. To compromise, we were given a rice cooker. We won't be able to cook canned goods nor eggs. Or even heat up food left in the freezer the next day. So much for expectations.

The PM snack was terrible! Pancit Malabon had no taste nor have distinctive color. One would have mistaken it for carbonara, seriously. The buttered puto and orange juice made up for it.

Dinner was not good as well as the pork was not tender, inihaw na liempo was hard to the bite and their chicken tinola was on a tear down. Good thing their bite size pineapple was sweet and juicy.

We did not have high hopes for breakfast as Sabangan got two strikes already from our taste buds. So after gathering everyone at the pavillion for breakfast, we were a bit surprised. They served juicy pork adobo, tender young pork tocino, fried tawilis, scrambled egg and arroz caldo. They had us again this time.

After eating, we asked the front desk for assistance --snorkeling. They do not have an in house service but they forwarded us to people whom offer beach activities. 16 of us joined in. It was 1500 per boat that would cater for 10 people. We paid 200 each in excess of 10. And goggles are on 100 each rental fee. When we got back, the boatmen told us we lost one snorkeling gear. We had to pay 250 for it hoping that we were not scammed.

Our attention went to kayaking afterwards.

We did not have the chance to take our AM Snack simply because we didn't think it would be much better so we just waited for lunch to come and we planned to just eat outside.

It would be our last stay in Sabangan Resort.

Great staff. You have the option to cook your own food, though, the food from their kitchen are all delicious. Definitely recommend to my friends and relatives.

“How i wish we did not stay here..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

it's my mom's birthday and her wish is for our family to have an out of town trip preferably in the beach. all in all we are 25 persons. 15 adults, 10 kids. So, i searched for the internet nearest white beach resort from manila. then we end up in this place. Sabangan beach resort and how we really wish we did not stay here. why?

1. online booking: impolite agent
2. dirty place trus me! you would not want to touch anything.
3. bed bugs!!!
4. i thought its cheap but when i started to compare it with nearby beaches, its kinda pricey.
5. uncoordinated, impolite staff! some of then dont know what they are doing.
6. dirty pool not as fancy as the picture shows
7. frogs all over the place.
8. very dark
9. their umbrellas at the shore dont have lights, so its not advisable to stay there during night.
10. worst rice ever!
11. loitering dogs

on the other hand, there is still a positive side,
1. the beach is great! and clean!
2. the weather is cozy
3. quiet place

that's all. hehe :)

Room Tip: watch out: bed bugs, mosquitoes, other insects, frogs!

“Resort is built for wholesome family fun. Kids will enjoy this place.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2011

We booked a two bedroom (Cottage 2C) at Sabangan for our family of six (husby and I, a nanny and our three daughters ages 10 to 3. Take note ALL bookings are done online, and you are required to pay in full. Any refunds must be done fourteen days (14) before check in.
We took the Ibaan route from Manila as published on the site - this route seemed simpler.
Upon arrival at Sabangan, we were checked into Cottage 2C. I immediately asked to be moved, since this cottage had a some non-negotiable hygiene issues. Whatever you do folks, please do not book Cottage 2C. This is probably their oldest and shabbiest cottage in the resort, and I think it is about time that the resort closes this cottage down to renovate it.
The resort management did a good job in moving us to a newer, cleaner Loft A. from hereon the family trip began smoothly. The kids enjoyed the pool - my three year old learned to swim in the kiddie pool. On the third day though the pool was very dirty, so we opted to swim in Aquatico and avail of their day trip rate (2650PhP per head).
As for the inclusive buffet breakfast and dinner - it is a nice modest spread of home cooked provincial fare, satisfying to the appetite. Breakfast normally has scrambled egg with ham bits, longganiza, tapa, fried garlic rice, mini vienna sausages (my husband thought this was brillant), deep fried daing na bangus. Dinner buffet had calderetang baka, chicken barbecue, nilagang baka, white rice, fried tilapia, and whole lot more. The menu changes daily, so at least you are not bored with the same food everyday. It is best to opt dining when the rest of the resort guests have left the dining area - you see the tables are positioned too close to each other and tend to be cramped.
Lunch is not included though. It is a better idea to lunch nearby Aquatico Resort. The buffet lunch over there costs 580PhP.
You may also choose to cook at te patio of your cottage because all cottages have basic cooking stations, pots, pans, spoons forks plates. A lot of guests like to do this.
One of the most brillant things the resort cottage has to offer is the unlimited mineral water supply at the patio. This saves you from buying too many bottles of water.
My husband went fishing at sea for two mornings. He hired a banka with a bankero (wooden boat with a boatman for PhP2000 a day.) He had his own bankero contact from years ago, and he also brought his complete fishing gear. He enjoyed immensely as there was a lot of fish to catch, mostly mahi-mahi. We grilled this fresh fish for dinner.
You may also arrange for a massage therapist for only PhP300 (USD6) an hour - this is done via the front office. My husband and I availed of shiatsu massage. Our therapist serviced us in the loft at the same hour-and-a-half. My therapist Susan was very good. And my husband said he had the best massage of all time as well.

Room Tip: Cottage 1C or 1D is ok. Loft A is fine
