“How i wish we did not stay here..”

it's my mom's birthday and her wish is for our family to have an out of town trip preferably in the beach. all in all we are 25 persons. 15 adults, 10 kids. So, i searched for the internet nearest white beach resort from manila. then we end up in this place. Sabangan beach resort and how we really wish we did not stay here. why?

1. online booking: impolite agent
2. dirty place trus me! you would not want to touch anything.
3. bed bugs!!!
4. i thought its cheap but when i started to compare it with nearby beaches, its kinda pricey.
5. uncoordinated, impolite staff! some of then dont know what they are doing.
6. dirty pool not as fancy as the picture shows
7. frogs all over the place.
8. very dark
9. their umbrellas at the shore dont have lights, so its not advisable to stay there during night.
10. worst rice ever!
11. loitering dogs

on the other hand, there is still a positive side,
1. the beach is great! and clean!
2. the weather is cozy
3. quiet place

that's all. hehe :)

Room Tip: watch out: bed bugs, mosquitoes, other insects, frogs!

“Resort is built for wholesome family fun. Kids will enjoy this place.”

We booked a two bedroom (Cottage 2C) at Sabangan for our family of six (husby and I, a nanny and our three daughters ages 10 to 3. Take note ALL bookings are done online, and you are required to pay in full. Any refunds must be done fourteen days (14) before check in.
We took the Ibaan route from Manila as published on the site - this route seemed simpler.
Upon arrival at Sabangan, we were checked into Cottage 2C. I immediately asked to be moved, since this cottage had a some non-negotiable hygiene issues. Whatever you do folks, please do not book Cottage 2C. This is probably their oldest and shabbiest cottage in the resort, and I think it is about time that the resort closes this cottage down to renovate it.
The resort management did a good job in moving us to a newer, cleaner Loft A. from hereon the family trip began smoothly. The kids enjoyed the pool - my three year old learned to swim in the kiddie pool. On the third day though the pool was very dirty, so we opted to swim in Aquatico and avail of their day trip rate (2650PhP per head).
As for the inclusive buffet breakfast and dinner - it is a nice modest spread of home cooked provincial fare, satisfying to the appetite. Breakfast normally has scrambled egg with ham bits, longganiza, tapa, fried garlic rice, mini vienna sausages (my husband thought this was brillant), deep fried daing na bangus. Dinner buffet had calderetang baka, chicken barbecue, nilagang baka, white rice, fried tilapia, and whole lot more. The menu changes daily, so at least you are not bored with the same food everyday. It is best to opt dining when the rest of the resort guests have left the dining area - you see the tables are positioned too close to each other and tend to be cramped.
Lunch is not included though. It is a better idea to lunch nearby Aquatico Resort. The buffet lunch over there costs 580PhP.
You may also choose to cook at te patio of your cottage because all cottages have basic cooking stations, pots, pans, spoons forks plates. A lot of guests like to do this.
One of the most brillant things the resort cottage has to offer is the unlimited mineral water supply at the patio. This saves you from buying too many bottles of water.
My husband went fishing at sea for two mornings. He hired a banka with a bankero (wooden boat with a boatman for PhP2000 a day.) He had his own bankero contact from years ago, and he also brought his complete fishing gear. He enjoyed immensely as there was a lot of fish to catch, mostly mahi-mahi. We grilled this fresh fish for dinner.
You may also arrange for a massage therapist for only PhP300 (USD6) an hour - this is done via the front office. My husband and I availed of shiatsu massage. Our therapist serviced us in the loft at the same hour-and-a-half. My therapist Susan was very good. And my husband said he had the best massage of all time as well.

Room Tip: Cottage 1C or 1D is ok. Loft A is fine

The beach is clean and clear. The pool is dirty. The food was abundant and good. Their office personnel and housekeeping is good over all. The lodging is dirty and cramped. The beds and pillows need to be fumigated because where bed bugs.

“Great Family Getaway!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2011

After travelling 2.5 hours from Manila, we finally arrived at Sabangan beach resort. I was a bit anxious the night before, hoping that I made the right decision in chosing this resort..so i decided to view pictures and comments posted at the trip advisor. I was pleasantly surprise when we got to the resort. First, we were ushered into the resort by very courteous and helpfull staff. All of them quick to greet and flash a very welcoming smile! I passed through the trellis lined walkway and noticed the trees everywhere that had such a cooling effect. The place was well landscaped and I do agree with the other guys that posted that the materials used in the cottages were superb and well thought of. As we got to our cottage, I would say tht the furnishings and the total makeup were tastefully done..The cottage was well equipped with the necessary appliances. I also noticed that the cottages underwent a bit of refurbishing . The beach had pristine waters and as described by the others, the sand was somewhat course indeed. Then nightfall came and the resort was eluminated by capiz latterns !!The place was quiet except for the noise generated by the nearby resort. We had dinner, and I was more than satisfied with what we were served! This is just our first day of stay I hope that nothing will spoil our wonderful stay as we have two more days to go!!!So far so good! I would say that this resort has a charm of its own and definitely stand up to its much hyped neghbors!!!I took alot of pictures so that others could appreciated the resort..Promise to post them later!!!!One thing though that I wont like them to improve on was to provide ample parking as this area was packed when we got there!!!

“we enjoyed our stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

my husband and i planned a small getaway for my mom and some of our friends during our stay in the philippines. several months before i flew back in manila, i searched so many resorts, read so many reviews, looked at the same resorts that i have seen over and over again, got tired of it and decided we're going to sabangan.
when we got there, we were greeted by their security guard and staffs were very helpful unloading all our bags after checking in. we rented the two bedroom beachfront bugalow. you can bring and cook your own food which is a plus, and FREE breakfast!!!

resort is clean BUT.....would have been much better if they maintained the rooms. the rooms are clean but we found some insects by the night table. bathroom was reeking. water from the toilet bowl runs continously, one traveler mentioned this problem already, i talked to one of the staff and she told me they can't fix it, i informed the receptionist about this matter and she told me nobody said anything about it and they will have it fixed. funny really, it was I who suggested to just replace the fittings in the toilet tank.
their pool is only 4 feet deep. it would have been better if it was a little deeper. They dont allow videoke but you can hear people singing beside the resort.

the beach. we have a nice view of the beach. sand is not as fine like in boracay but its okay, water is very clean. we really enjoyed our swim.

all in all, i enjoyed our stay here in sabangan. i do have some issues with their accomodation but hey, i didnt come here for that, i came here for the beach. i would definitely recommend this to all travellers.
