“Excellent Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2009

- booking was so easy - i called as i was driving south with no place to go - and the reservations person was very helpful plus they accept major credit cards!
- the room was very clean with pristine white covers blankets and pillows. the extra beds are actual beds! not folding beds with an inch think foam. split type aircon was cold...hot and cold shower and the toilet is separate! satelite cable dvd & karaoke machine - the room has 5 freaking remote controls! a pair of golf umbrellas provided as well
- a wide veranda with a rack and hangers for wet clothes
- a lovely hut with cushioned back rests and white drapes for a little privacy if you want to take a quick nap by the beach
- very nice and clean infinity pool with kiddie area and jacuzzi with water falls!
- there are no resorts on either side so the beach is exclusive to resort guests
- property spans the length of the cove and not inward so all rooms are facing the ocean.
- the food is great but more than good enough and they never run out of food in the buffet - even if you are the last group to eat! Plus you sit at the same table each meal as the table is reserved for you the entire stay. bottomless coffee is brewed not instant...very important for me! :)
- this is not boracay or bohol or palawan so dont expect powder white beaches. I suggest you wear aqua shoes as the sand is a bit rough with lots of shells and small corals. The water is very clean though and snorkeling in the deeper areas is very rewarding with lots of variety of colorful fish. again...you need to go a bit farther out so if you're not an experienced swimmer/snorkler wear a life vest. bring a plastic of bread to feed them...its wonderful!
- no gawkers or vendors
- they have anticipated mass on saturday early evening so you need not worry about hearing mass the next day...
- place is well lighted at night and no loud music or noise after 9pm
- staff - from the guards at the parking area to the janitors - are courteous, pleasant
- the only downside is the rough road to the resort.. the steep and rough up and downhills will be too slippery to navigate safely during the rainy season. not unless you have a true 4x4

“Enclosed in a Cove”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

We visited Palm Beach Resort on July but we were lucky that there wasn't rain.

It occurred to me that Laiya Beaches are behind and below a mountain, thus there's coves. Theres a cove wherein all the resorts are at - one long stretch. We went there to inquire but they didnt had rooms for us anymore. Lucky Palm Beach Resort still has 1 room for us. I like the location of Palm Beach because it's secluded in it's own cove. Thus you dont have to share the beach front with other neighboring resorts.

Palm Beach's beach front is more ideal for snorkeling. They have an infinity pool in their resort too.

Rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom is big and there's hot water. Air con is very cool. I enjoyed sleeping at night, there was no noise what so ever!

Its quiet and the surroundings are clean. There are little cabanas to chill/relax at in the beach front. The air is fresh because of the mountains.

My friends and I had a body massage at the cabanas on the beach side. The massage was done by local residence. It costs P300 per person. It was a good experience to have a massage by the beach, hearing the sounds of the wave.

We took rented a boat to take us to a better scuba spot. The ride costs P1300 for about 2 hours. One of my friend finds it expensive. They boat man didnt want to give us a discount =( But it's ok because we had a good time. It was really facinating to see how clear the water at Batangas is. You can actually see the rocks/corals/fishes in it!

The downside of the resort are:
1. The food - local Filipino food. I saw a Caucasian guy with a frown on his face. He ended up eating Mango for dinner.
2. The path going to the resort - it's off-road and muddy. Steep highs and lows. One of my friend drove a Honda City and it was able to go tru.

“Fantastic Palm Beach!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2009

1. Booking - a breeze! Very organized. Even faxed directions n map going 2d resort.

2. Travel - fast. Though nearing the resort you'll pass by a narrow rough road (you'd pass by acuatico, blue coral, la luz respectively) it's still manageable even to cars. But I don't recommend it during rainy days coz it could be slippery. At the parking lot, u can leave ur car there so u can ride n load ur things in their L300 shuttle or u can bring ur car down a few meters near ur casa to unload n drive it back to parking area.

3. Casas/Casitas - I can only speak for casita premier coz that's where my family stayed. It was GREAT!!! Got a wrap around veranda with table n chairs n clothes drying rack. Got 2 queen beds, 2 day beds each with pullout. Can accomodate 8 persons comfortably or more if they'll permit. Toilet n bath are separated, has a long bench where u can sit fronting the sink area, several hooks to hang towels, etc. Has hot n cold shower. Bathroom is quite big like a masters bathroom. Aircon is strong. Cable tv (it works!! U just have to ask for assistance if u don't know how to use the cable box), DVD player. Room is large, nice, comfortable, quiet (we can't hear a single noise from outside or even from family with kids staying upstairs). We occupied lower level. Wouldn't recommend upper level to elderlies coz stairs might be steep to them. Lower level has garden view n a little bit seaview but I bet upper level has great seaview. Our casita has a shortcut to pavillion where food is served so that's a plus. From here, around 2 mins walk to infinity pool. The casitas deluxe n casas are nearer the pool. But no worries here coz if ur lazy to walk they have golf cart to shuttle u to ur desired destination (just inform the staff). We just used it once 4 experience. Hehe. Mind you even our lolas didn't mind the walk.

4. Food - good. Everything is buffet. Drinks are bottomless (each meal has 2 juices to choose from, batangas coffee). During our stay, viands of pork/beef, chicken, seafood, vegetable, pasta, rice, fruits, dessert were quite good. Others are also getting 2nds or even 3rds. This is not shangri-la resort so don't expect too much. Just right for the price u pay.

5. Service - awesome! No room service but u wouldn't need that really. Staff is friendly, courteous, n fast.

6. Cottages - very nice n big. Even has curtains for privacy. They even provide cushions for body n head. If u brought a driver/s they can even sleep here for free. Nice noh!

7. Beach area - has many pebbles! U need to wear slippers or aqua shoes. This is batangas not boracay. So we're kinda expecting this. But they have a long beach with sunbathing chairs too. They have water sports.

8. Infinity pool - very nice! Even has kiddie pool n jacuzzi. This is overlooking the sea. Ganda! Has an airconditioned pavilion for functions or for anticipated mass during Saturdays.

9. FREE Wi-fi!! Didn't know this so I wasn't able to test it. But saw few guys using their laptop in the pavillion area (where buffets are served). Maybe this is the wi-fi spot. The pavillion is open air so no probs going here to use wi-fi.

Cons:
1. Several meters of narrow rough road going to resort. This is a problem during rainy season but otherwise it's manageable even to cars.
2. The pool area should be provided with showers. Saw only a rest room each for male n female. The daytrippers (if there are) can benefit from shower n changing areas.
3. Poor celphone signal. We have smart signal. Dunno for other networks.

All in all, I highly recommend this resort. Very nice accomodation n facilities, great service, good food, great for relaxation, away from crowds of beach goers (quite exclusive as if u own the resort even on weekends).

“Rough Road”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2009

If there's one thing I won't forget about Palm Resort it's the steep and rough roads that we passed getting there. We were thinking that all these roads used to be mountains and getting to the beach...they just somehow had to make a road. The beach was filled with sharp pebbles that I couldn't last three steps from the shore otherwise my feet will get bruised. The food was ordinary but the taste was exquisitely Batangas cooking (if you know what I mean). The apartelles which they called casas have very nice architechture. The base was mostly wood giving you that very natural and calming feeling. The whole apartelle (having 3 rooms w/ multiple beds) can accomodate large groups of more than 12. There was no intercom in the room so theres no room service. Though the appartelle is equipped with a ref and a big bar just like a cozy house. I also liked their infinity pool because it's not too deep and has a simple design. By 6 o'clock the beach is totally low tide and so it's not possible to swim anymore because it becomes too rocky. All in all it was a nice experience to see Palm Beach Resort in Laiya, Batangas.

“The perfect place for a relaxing and quiet getaway.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2009

My friends and I went to Palm Beach Resort for a 2-night stay and was pleasantly surprised at what we saw and experienced.

Nestled in a somewhat secluded area of the San Juan area of Batangas, the resort was surprisingly modern and equipped with good quality amenities and facilities. The room we stayed in comfortably accommodated the 5 of us. It was clean, and the bathroom has strong water pressure. It also had a spacious balcony and a well-functioning airconditioner. You can even bring your DVDs as the room has a DVD player to make up for not having cable tv.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, they respond quickly when approached with requests. They also impose a strict noise curfew for loud music (around 9pm) to preserve the tranquility of the place.

The beach was quite rocky, though. But if you wear slippers/surf shoes and rent a life vest, you can just float about and enjoy the cool, clean water. It's also a nice place for taking walks and exploring the seaside. Large cabanas have been set up by the shore so guests can laze around and spend time with family and friends while enjoying the view of the sea.

The buffet was quite good and had generous helpings.
