“basic and credit crunch breakfast!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

We stayed at this hotel as we were picking up a relative from Heathrow and is a very close drive. Hotel was very basic, but was clean. Not impressed with no towels on arrival, we got there at 5pm! Requested another pillow and were told no! Breakfast was a dissapointment! Only allowed 1 partha each, additional parthas would incur extra cost and the english breakfast was the smallest I have ever seen! Also lift was not working, had to drag 3 suitcases and 2 holdalls up 2 flights of stairs! No help offered from staff!

“Friendly staff, nice clean rooms and great food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2010

I stayed at Mehfil for several nights after my flight from Heathrow was cancelled because of the weather. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and made sure I felt welcome, which was just what I needed after a stressful day, especially as a young woman on her own! The overall standard of the rooms was decent, and included an ensuite, a desk, kettle with teas and coffees, telephone, fan, tv and iron. Good level of cleanliness. Wifi in all the rooms, but there is a charge of £5 for 24 hours. Also, there is no front desk service from 12am- 7.30am which wasn't a problem for me but might bother some people. The area was quiet at night so I had a good nights sleep. I also had an excellent meal at the Indian restaurant downstairs- in fact I ate there for dinner every night! It's a very interesting area and I ended up enjoying my impromptu visit to Mehfil and Southall! Would definitely reccommend it.

“Good price and very handy for central London”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2010

I booked this hotel on the basis that it was the cheapest place in London which had consistently decent reviews on Tripadvisor. I had been to Southall before and thought it was an okay area. However when we arrived (at lunchtime on a Tuesday) there was a fight going on in the street just outside the hotel, and shortly after we went inside the hotel the police arrived. This wasn't very encouraging!
The hotel staff were friendly and polite. The room was adequately sized but the furnishings were a bit tired - there was no duvet on the bed (there was a woollen blanket), the easy chair had seen better days, there was an iron-shaped burn on the carpet and the wall was scuffed. Everything was clean but a bit battered. The bathroom was fine.
Breakfast was a choice of continental or Indian (the hotel has an Indian restaurant attached). The Indian breakfast consists of pancakes with a little bit of spice served with yoghurt, it was very tasty and not too spicy.
The best thing about this hotel (apart from the price) is that it is very close to Southall train station, where you can get a train into central London which takes only 15-20 mins.

“Good location, good price, terrible sleep.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

Staff were polite, the room was clean, the price was cheap and the location was great. However, I judge a hotel on how good the sleep I get is, and here it was terrible. It wasn't even warm outside but the room was stifling even with the window open. Noise from the street kept me awake much of the night. The room looked like nothing had changed in 30 years and was very dark. There was also some wiring that looked far from safe. Breakfast was included but I was so tired I couldn't eat, so I can't comment on it.

“Does the job very well”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2010

Its a 3 star hotel in Southall. The surroundings are not very salubrious (but safe). Set in a built up, crowded and residential (asian Indian) area. The feedback is always good, so booked it for a family of 4 (including 2 teenagers) Used this as a base to go to London and then the Swaminarayan temple. Good choice i must say. paid £79 for a family room. It was large with 2 king sized beds, TV (with sky sports), largish bathroom with good hot shower. Spotless throughout. Fridge and ironing facilities in room. Pay for wifi. For a budget 3 star hotel, this is very good and you dont feel like you have entered a budget hotel at all.

The hotel also boasts a very popular restaurant. the food was excellent (no point going anywhere else for your dinner). It gets crowded in the evenings and closes at 11.30 pm when departing diners make some noise. But quiet after that. I got space in the car park no problems (free for guests)

One drawback is that the smells of the Indian kitchen pervade throughout the hotel and guests rooms. Might put some people off. Breakfast can be cooked english or panjabi style parathas. All served in the restaurant with good cutlery and classy table cloths and serviettes. Beats your holiday inns anytime.
